NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>High school junior Liam Smith\u00a0<\/strong>of\u00a0Philadelphia, Penn. has verbally committed to the University of Notre Dame, he announced via Instagram<\/a> on Monday.<\/p>\n

Smith previously swam for Lower Moreland Swimming but now swims year-round\u00a0with Upper Dublin Aquatic Club and owns three Summer Juniors standards. He most recently competed at ISCA TYR Juniors where placed fourth in the 400 IM and fifth in the 500 free after earning a pair of best times at Juniors East in December. This past summer, he earned bronze medals in the 200m free, 100m fly and 200m IM\u00a0before going on to take sixth in the 200m free at Richmond Futures.<\/p>\n

Also competing for La Salle College High School, Smith is a five-time Pennsylvania 3A State Championship finalist.\u00a0He was the 200 free runner-up and placed fourth in the 500 free as a junior after finishing fifth in the former event during his sophomore season. Smith has also earned both NISCA and USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors for his efforts.<\/p>\n

Regarding his commitment, he said:<\/p>\n
