Every year, Swimming World Magazine uses the December issue to name the World and Regional Swimmers of the Year. This year, Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu earns Swimming World Magazine’s Female European Swimmer of the Year, ahead of Russia’s Yuliya Efimova, Lithuania’s Ruta Meilutyte, Netherland’s Ranomi Kromowidjojo and Sweden’s Sarah Sjostrom, with a remarkable 14 first-place votes from Swimming World’s panel of experts. <\/p>\n
Hosszu earned the award for her impressive 2013 World Cup Circuit lineup and the fact that she has remained at the top of the world rankings in the 400 IM for four years. Her winning 400 IM at the Barcelona World Championships was considered one of the best swims of the meet.<\/p>\n
