JACKSONVILLE, Fla., April 17. LARRY Shofe, head swim coach for The Bolles School, has announced his resignation after 15 years of coaching at Bolles and 36 years in the profession. He will continue to coach through the Phillips 66 National Championships in August before moving on.<\/p>\n
After 36 years of coaching, Shofe says he has decided to spend more time with his family and is unsure of what lies ahead.<\/p>\n
"After extensive discussions with my family and intensive personal reflection, it became clear to me over the past year that I need new challenges in my professional life," Shofe said.<\/p>\n
Shofe has been recognized internationally for his talents as a coach and leading his swimmers to success. He has won many awards over the years,
\nincluding the USA Swimming Developmental Coach of the Year in 2000, the Boys High School Coach of the Year in 1999-2000, and the Florida Swimming Senior Swimming Coach of the Year in 2001. <\/p>\n
The Bolles School won three national titles under his leadership, and 22 Bolles swimmers competed at the Summer Games in 2000. This year his girls won their 11th straight state high school team title, while his boys won their 14th.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
