He most recently competed at Columbia Speedo Sectionals where he finished third in the 50 free and fifth in the 100 free after winning the former event at Arkansas Seniors. Wingfield, who has only recently turned his attention to swimming year-round, raced the splash-and-dash at Juniors East in December.\u00a0Also competing for Conway High School East, he won the 50 free and earned bronze in the 100 free during his sophomore season at the Arkansas 6A\/7A State Championships.<\/p>\n<p>He told\u00a0<em>Swimming World:<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>&#8220;I am more than excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my education and athletic career at Auburn University. The coaching staff and swimmers make me feel at home and I feel that Auburn is where I am meant to be. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for me as an Auburn Tiger.
