HOUSTON, Texas, November 24. THE Phill Hansel Invitational closed the curtains on the 2013 edition with the Rice Owls winning the overall title and another handful of NCAA B cuts going into the books. <\/p>\n
North Texas’ Mona Groteguth cleared the NCAA B cut in the 200 back with a time of 1:56.62. That time beat the B cut mark by several seconds. New Mexico State’s Terrin Seaver finished second in 1:59.32, while Rice’s Taylor Armstrong pocketed third-place honors in 1:59.66. <\/p>\n
Rice’s Casey Clark followed with a B cut of her own in the 100 free as she won the finale in 49.62. Tulane’s Mia Schachter hit the wall second in 50.08, while Idaho’s Rachel Millet captured third in 50.30. Clark then doubled up with another B cut as she clocked a 1:57.28 in the 200 fly for the win. Idaho’s Jamie Sterbis picked up second in 2:00.58, while Houston’s Laykin Lowry snared third in 2:01.45. <\/p>\n
New Mexico State’s Jessica Legge got into the win column in the women’s 200 breast with a 2:16.17. Rice’s Rachel Moody posted a second-place time of 2:16.57, while Idaho’s Erica Anderson finished third overall in 2:17.05. <\/p>\n
North Texas’ Jana Burkard won the women’s 1650 free in 16:39.62, while Rice’s Erin Flanigan took second in 16:42.51. Rice’s Quincy Christian picked up the third-place finish with a time of 16:45.34.<\/p>\n
Rice closed out the meet with a win in the 400 free relay as Chelsea Fong, Marissa Konicke, Casey Clark and Karina Wlostowska posted a 3:19.80. Rice’s B team of Shelly Patton, Kimberly Steinhouse, Taylor Armstrong and Cora McKenzie took second in 3:23.68. Houston’s Krystan Morrell, Heather Winn, Maya Owens and Lindsay Schultz completed the top three in 3:24.99<\/p>\n
Houston’s Taylor Olanski captured the platform diving title with 279.80 points. Idaho’s Paige Hunt finished second with 202.80 points, while Tulane’s Lauren Arnold took third with 185.10 points. <\/p>\n
