CHARLOTTE, North Carolina, November 23. THE Queens University of Charlotte men’s and women’s swim teams have opened up solid leads in the team standings following the first night of racing at the Fall Frenzy, hosted by Wingate University. Queens teammates Caroline Arakelian and Hannah Peiffer both earned Division II A cuts last night in the 200 IM, in addition to St. Andrews’ David Lambert in the 50 free. <\/p>\n

The Queens University of Charlotte swim program started the Fall Frenzy with a splash with both teams sitting in first place following the first day of action. Highlighted by multiple first place finishes and school records, the Royals look strong as they prepare to hit the water again tomorrow morning.<\/p>\n
Starting the meet for the men was a first place finish and NCAA B-cut time of 1:22.11 in the 200 freestyle relay. The team of Hayden Kosater, Niclas Eriksson, Matthew Josa, and Austin Sumrall took a lead early and never looked back, beating the closest team by seven seconds.<\/p>\n
The men followed that up with a first place finish by Josa in the 200 IM with the B-cut time of 1:49.72, and a third place finish in the same race by fellow freshman Devyn Hughes. Also picking up a top three finish was Eriksson in the 50 freestyle when he achieved the B-cut time of 20.80.<\/p>\n
The Royals closed out the meet with a bang as the 400 medley relay team of Harry Traystman, Eriksson, Josa, and Kosater won the race in decisive fashion. Finishing in the time of 3:16.65 the Royals achieved a B-cut, and set the standard for the rest of the meet.<\/p>\n
The women also started the meet with a strong finish in the 200 freestyle relay when the team of Caroline Arakelian, Lauren Mock, Kristin Diemer, and Lillian Gordy finished second in the B-cut time of 1:35.32.<\/p>\n
Next up was the ever steady Gordy, who finished first in the 500 freestyle, with teammate Meridith Boudreaux touching the wall in at third just behind her. The women followed that up with one of the most exciting events of the night when Arakelian and Hannah Peiffer went one-two in the 200 IM and each achieved A-cut times of 2:01.41 and 2:02.46 respectively. With that time Arakelian broke her own school record.<\/p>\n
Much like the men, the women closed their night out with a bang when they finished first and set the school record with a 3:47.10 in the 400 medley relay. Consisting of Arakelian, Emma Durante, Peiffer, and Gordy, the Royals cruised to a win behind a school record time of 55.56 in the 100 backstroke by Arakelian to start the relay.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
