The website includes a letter of appreciation to her fans for the support they have offered during her treatment. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ikee shared her leukemia diagnosis <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/japanese-star-rikako-ikee-diagnosed-with-leukemia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">back in February<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> following a medical emergency at a training camp in Australia. The diagnosis and the start of necessary treatment prevented Ikee from competing in Japan\u2019s qualifying meet for the 2019 World Championships in South Korea. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rikako-ikee.jp\/fan.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">translated version of Ikee\u2019s letter<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the 18-year old\u2019s treatment has been \u201cgoing smoothly\u201d despite the long period of hospitalization that has been required to fight the disease. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Honestly speaking, I sometimes become discouraged.
