Paltrinieri won the final by over a minute as he is in the middle of a training camp in the United States. Paltrinieri talked about if he prefers swimming the 1500 over the 10K and if he wants to swim the 10K at the Olympics next year. He said he plans on doing both open water and pool at the World Championships this summer.<\/p>\n<p>Paltrinieri also talked about how this was his first open water race that he was well prepared for and how he enjoyed the conditions of the water in south Florida.<\/p>\n<p>Paltrinieri also gave his prediction for the 2019 NBA Finals and who his favorite basketball player is.<\/p>\n<p>Paltrinieri was the winner in the 10K ahead of American\u00a0<strong>Jordan Wilimovsky<\/strong>, who secured his spot to the World Championships this summer. The top ten finishers at World Championships this summer in the 10K will automatically qualify for the Olympics in 2020.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/pktZsfdHZY8\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Paltrinieri was the Olympic Champion in 2016 in the 1500 free and was also the World Champion in 2015 and 2017 in the event. The 24-year-old is looking to win his third straight World title in that event this summer in Gwangju, which would make him the second man to do so after Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Grant Hackett <\/strong>won four straight titles from 1998-2005. Paltrinieri is also the second fastest performer all-time in the 1500 LCM and is one of the favorites to win that event this summer in Gwangju and also next summer at the Olympics.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The 10K open water race has only been a part of the Olympic program since 2008 but Paltrinieri would be the first person to ever win a gold medal in both pool and open water in the same Olympics if he succeeds next summer.
