British champion Duncan Scott<\/strong> announced on social media that he is joining the International Swimming League (ISL) and will join the London Roar along with Sarah Vasey<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

“Happy to say I’ve joined @isl_londonroar Looking forward to racing in the @iswimleague,” he wrote.<\/p>\n

Scott originally was on the fence about the ISL because he wanted to make sure it didn’t affect his training plans for the 2020 Olympic Games.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think all swimmers are intrigued by it, and anyone who has even got a passing interest in the sport is intrigued too, because it is something new, something the sport has never seen before. It has got a lot of people talking. Change isn\u2019t necessarily always liked by certain people, there is a fear of the unknown there so that is maybe why it didn\u2019t hit off straight away,” Scott told The Herald <\/em>in March.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Scott is coming off of a strong performance at the British Championships.<\/p>\n

He broke the first British record of the meet in his victory in the 100 free<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Scott automatically qualified for the world championships with his swim of 47.87. It broke his own national record in the event.<\/p>\n

It is the third-fastest time in the world this year.<\/p>\n

    He needed to go under 48 to qualify for worlds.<\/p>\n

    It has been a strong couple of years for Scott. He was named the British Swimming Athlete of the Yea<\/a>r for 2018 after winning six medals at the Commonwealth Games, including a gold in the 100 free<\/a>, a silver in the 200 IM, and bronzes in the 200 free and 200 fly. Scott continued his impressive summer with four medals at the European Championships where he won a gold in the 200 free<\/a> and a silver in the 100 free. Scott won relay gold medals in Glasgow in the 4\u00d7100 medley<\/a> and 4\u00d7200 free relays<\/a>.<\/p>\n

    Scott\u2019s 200 free time from Europeans was the fastest time from any of the major meets this summer and his 100 free from Commonwealth\u2019s was third.<\/p>\n

    Scott was also the flag bearer<\/a> for Scotland at the Closing Ceremonies at the Commonwealth Games this year, and also re-signed with Speedo<\/a> shortly after the European Championships.<\/p>\n
