COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, November 14. TODAY, USA Swimming’s Safe Sport Division announced that it has banned James Pantera for life from the organization.<\/p>\n
Pantera has had one of the more unusual relationships with the sport and the organization, having had former USA Swimming Vice President Mike Saltzstein file a complaint against Pantera questioning his background. <\/p>\n
USA Swimming had stated that it would look closely into the matter back in February in conjuction with Saltzstein’s complaint, which has concluded with the Pantera decision today. Pantera had claimed ASCA Level 5 certification, as well as saying he was a strength and conditioning coach at the NCAA Division I level. Saltzstein also claimed that Pantera had 11 other identities. <\/p>\n

USA Swimming made the decision public today following a 30-day appeal window beginning with Pantera’s Oct. 14, 2013 ban date. USA Swimming also recognizes a few of Pantera’s aliases as part of the ban: James Sabre Pantera, Robert Michael Binkin, James David Land, James Wallace. <\/p>\n
USA Swimming found Pantera guilty of violating three items within the Code of Conduct: 304.3.6, 304.3.14, 304.3.18.<\/p>\n
304.3.6 Conviction of, imposition of a deferred sentence for, or any plea of guilty or no contest at any time, past or present, or the existence of any pending charges, for (i) any felony, (ii) any offense involving use, possession, distribution or intent to distribute illegal drugs or substances, (iii) any crime involving sexual misconduct, or (iv) any criminal offense against a minor.<\/p>\n
304.3.14: Any act of fraud, deception or dishonesty in connection with any USA Swimming-related activity<\/p>\n
304.3.18 Any other material and intentional act, conduct or omission not provided for above, which is detrimental to the image or reputation of USA Swimming, a LSC or the sport of swimming.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
