AS we approach the midseason invitational meets, we&#8217;re seeing a few swimmers and divers perform impressively across all collegiate divisions, and their efforts are being rewarded with honors from their conference headquarters.<\/p>\n<p>Atlantic 10 Conference<br \/>\nMale Athlete of the Week: Josh Koppel, Massachusetts<br \/>\nKoppel continued his unbeaten streak in diving competitions this season, winning the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard events against Brown last weekend. His score of 296.30 on the 1-meter is a season best.<\/p>\n<p>Female Athlete of the Week: Chaya Zabludoff, Rhode Island<br \/>\nZabludoff won the 100 free and 200 free in Rhode Island&#8217;s loss to New Hampshire. Zabludoff swam a season-best of 1:51.84 in the 200 free, and in her first 100 free of the season posted a 52.62.<\/p>\n<p>Male Rookie of the Week: Matt Goettler, St. Bonaventure<br \/>\nAs the Rookie of the Week in the Atlantic 10 for the second week, Gotteler is honored for a runner-up finish in the 200 breaststroke (2:10.62) at the dual meet against Cleveland State. Goettler posted a 59.09 in the breaststroke leg of St. Bonaventure&#8217;s second-place 400 medley relay.<\/p>\n<p>Female Rookie of the Week: Irina Chiulli, Richmond<br \/>\nThe freshman won both diving events in the team&#8217;s meet victory over Liberty last weekend. Her score of 310.50 on the 3-meter springboard set a new team record.<\/p>\n<p>Atlantic Coast Conference<br \/>\nMale Swimmer of the Week: Christian McCurdy, North Carolina State<br \/>\nMcCurdy made a big jump up the collegiate rankings on Friday in the Wolfpack&#8217;s dual meet against Duke. His 200 fly time of 1:47.44 and his 400 IM time of 3:54.06 put him in the top 15 nationally. He followed that up with wins in the 500 free (4:31.74) and 1000 free (9:26.24) in the dual meet the next day against UNC-Wilmington.<\/p>\n<p>Female Swimmer of the Week: Zina Grogg, North Carolina State<br \/>\nLike McCurdy, Grogg was impressive in two days of dual meet competition. She won the 100 back in 55.02 and the 100 fly in 53.96 in the tri-meet against Duke and Miami on Friday, then improved on her 100 back time on Saturday against UNC-Wilmington with a 54.26. Her 100 fly time puts her eighth in the country, while her best 100 back of the weekend ranks 10th nationally.<\/p>\n<p>Male Diver of the Week: Nick McCrory, Duke<br \/>\nMcCrory continues to show his dominance on the diving boards, not just in the ACC but nationally as well. His scores of 401.20 on the 1-meter and 417.20 on 3-meter make him one of a select few to post scores in the 400-point range so far this season.<\/p>\n<p>Female Diver of the Week: Katie Warburg, Virginia<br \/>\nWarburg qualified for the NCAA zone diving meet with a second-place score of 313.80 points on the 3-meter springboard in a quad meet against Penn State, Texas and West Virginia.<\/p>\n<p>Big Ten Conference<br \/>\nMale Swimmer of the Week: Shane Ryan, Penn State<br \/>\nRyan, known mostly as a backstroker, sits at the top of the collegiate ranks in the 100 freestyle, thanks to a 43.79 leadoff leg in the 400 free relay. Ryan is just the third swimmer under 44 seconds this season in the event. He also posted an impressive 47.87 in the 100 back and 20.30 in the 50 free. Ryan is set to compete for Team USA in the Duel in the Pool next month.<\/p>\n<p>Female Swimmer of the Week: Carly Mercer, Purdue<br \/>\nIn racing Ohio State and Northwestern last weekend, Mercer won three individual and one relay events. In addition to winning the 50 free (23.14), 200 free (1:48.07) and 400 free relay (3:23.03), Mercer put up an NCAA B qualifying time of 49.71 in the 100 free.<\/p>\n<p>Male Diver of the Week: Dylan Zoe, Minnesota<br \/>\nZoe won his first events of the season, taking both diving events against North Dakota. His scores of 324.90 on 1-meter and 348.35 on 3-meter qualify him for the NCAA zone championships.<\/p>\n<p>Female Diver of the Week: Maggie Keefer, Minnesota<br \/>\nKeefer collects her fourth weekly honor this season thanks to a sweep of the diving events against North Dakota. <\/p>\n<p>Male Freshman of the Week: Filip Bujoczek, Purdue<br \/>\nBujoczek won the 200 freestyle with a 1:38.48 in the quad meet against Iowa, Northwestern and Ohio State. That&#8217;s the fastest time by any swimmer from Purdue so far this season.<\/p>\n<p>Female Freshman of the Week: Lacey Locke, Northwestern<br \/>\nLocke swept the 100 and 200 backtrokes at two separate dual meets last weekend. She posted her fastest 100 back time of 55.18 against Purdue and Ohio State, then swam a 1:59.95 against Wyoming and Illinois-Chicago.<\/p>\n<p>Colonial Athletic Association<br \/>\nMale Swimmer of the Week: Billy Russell, William &amp; Mary<br \/>\nMost swimmers don&#8217;t usually swim lifetime bests in the middle of the season, but that&#8217;s what Russell did in the dual meet against Duke. He posted a 46.03 to win the 100 free and 1:40.47 for second place in the 200 free.<\/p>\n<p>Female Swimmer of the Week: Megan Howard, William &amp; Mary<br \/>\nLike Russell, Howard earned an impressive win against Duke, winning the 50 free with a 23.43. Sortly after, she was second in the 100 free with a 51.62.<\/p>\n<p>Male Diver of the Week: Allan Crosby, UNC-Wilmington<br \/>\nThe freshman continues to impress in his first season, placing second in the 1-meter event against North Carolina State and second in the 3-meter springboard competition.<\/p>\n<p>Female Diver of the Week: Madison Kramer, Drexel<br \/>\nKramer swept the diving events, scoring 230.33 on the 1-meter springboard and 243.98 on the 3-meter springboard in the meet against Binghamton.<\/p>\n<p>Conference USA<br \/>\nFemale Swimmer of the Week: Allie Duff, Western Kentucky<br \/>\nIn beating Cincinnati on the road, Duff picked up three individual wins last weekend. She won both backstrokes (56.67, 2:01.84) and picked up a victory in the 200 IM (2:05.24) as well as a win in the 200 medley relay with a 1:44.05.<\/p>\n<p>Female Diver of the Week: Amy Crayne, Western Kentucky<br \/>\nCrayne continues to be undefeated in diving events this season, continuing her streak with wins on the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards in the dual meet against Cincinnati.<\/p>\n<p>Horizon League<br \/>\nMale Swimmer of the Week: Clement Quilliec, Wright State<br \/>\nQuilliec is back on the weekly honors list thanks to his three victories in the dual meet against IUPUI. He won both breaststroke events (57.91, 2:06.56) as well as the 200 IM (1:54.83).<\/p>\n<p>Female Swimmer of the Week: Karin Tomeckova, Oakland<br \/>\nTomeckova was a workhorse last weekend, winning five individual events over two days of competition. She won the 100 back and 200 back in a dual meet against Bowling Green, then repeated those wins the following day against Eastern Michigan. For good measure, she added a victory in the 200 IM at the Eastern Michigan meet.<\/p>\n<p>Female Diver of the Week: Samantha Sposet, Cleveland State<br \/>\nFour wins in one weekend for Sposet garnered her this week&#8217;s award. She won both 1-meter and 3-meter diving events in the dual meet against St. Bonaventure, then claimed the same events against Niagara.<\/p>\n<p>Mid-American Conference<br \/>\nMale Athlete of the Week: Krzysztof Gilski, Eastern Michigan<br \/>\nGilski won both butterfly events in a dual meet against Oakland last weekend. His time of 49.77 in the 100 fly and 1:50.09 in the 200 fly rank him fastest in the conference so far this season. <\/p>\n<p>Female Athlete of the Week: Jess Powers, Buffalo<br \/>\nPowers completed a sweep of the longer freestyle events on Saturday in the dual meet victory over Colgate. She won the 1000 free in 10:15.93, then won the 200 free with a 1:53.92 about 15 minutes later. She wrapped up her day with a 5:02.46 in an exhibition swim in the 500 free.<\/p>\n<p>North Coast Atlantic Conference<br \/>\nMale Swimmer of the Week: James Dumstorf, Wittenberg<br \/>\nDumstorf was victorious in the 100 and 200 breaststrokes in a dual meet loss to DePauw on Friday with times of 59.47 and 2:09.55. He won the same events in Saturday&#8217;s tri-meet win over Transylvania and Wilmington, though slightly slower than the previous day.<\/p>\n<p>Female Swimmer of the Week: Lauren Wong, Oberlin<br \/>\nAt the Greater Cleveland Tournament, Wong won the 100 backstroke with a 1:00.28 and the 200 back with a 2:08.86 to help Oberlin beat Case in the meet.<\/p>\n<p>Presidents&#8217; Athletic Conference<br \/>\nMale Swimmer of the Week: Zach Ligus, Saint Vincent College<br \/>\nLigus was a key component in helping Saint Vincent win the quad meet featuring York, St. Mary&#8217;s and Dickinson. He won the 200 free in 1:47.55, the 200 fly in 2:01.82 and led off the winning 400 free relay with a 48.98.<\/p>\n<p>Female Swimmer of the Week: Annie Tillie, Westminster College<br \/>\nThe freshman showed her freestyle range with three victories in the dual meet against Allegheny. She won the 1000 free with an 11:14.29, the 100 free with a 56.82 and the 500 free in 5:26.98.<\/p>\n<p>Southeastern Conference<br \/>\nMale Swimmer of the Week: Sebastien Rousseau, Florida<br \/>\nThe redshirt senior moved up the national rankings with an impressive winning time of 1:45.71 in the 200 fly in the dual meet against Alabama, and continued to help Florida show its potential to contend in the 400 free relay at the NCAAs. His 44.52 leg helped Florida post a 2:58.20 at the meet.<\/p>\n<p>Female Swimmer of the Week: Susanna White, Arkansas<br \/>\nAs Arkansas continues its impressive dual-meet winning streak, White helped the cause with two individual event wins against Missouri State. She posted a win in the 100 free with a 51.25 and tied for first in the 100 breast with a 1:04.79.<\/p>\n<p>Male Diver of the Week: David Bonuchi, Missouri<br \/>\nBonuchi, a serious NCAA title contender in diving, broke the 400-point barrier for the first time this season in winning the 1-meter event against Missouri State. He almost broke 400 points as well in the 3-meter competition, winning with 390.97 points.<\/p>\n<p>Female Diver of the Week: Kahlia Warner, Florida<br \/>\nWarner wins a second-straight weekly honor based on a sweep of the diving events against Alabama last Thursday. <\/p>\n<p>Male Freshman of the Week: Anton McKee, Alabama<br \/>\nOne of the fastest breaststrokers in the collegiate ranks so far this season, McKee continued to show that in the dual meet loss to Florida. He won the 200 breast with a 1:57.98 and was second in the 100 breast with a 55.04.<\/p>\n<p>Female Freshman of the Week: Danielle Valley, Florida<br \/>\nIn the dual meet against Alabama, Valley set two personal bests. She won the 500 free with a 4:49.25 and was second in the 200 free with a 1:49.63.<\/p>\n<p>Summit League<br \/>\nMale Swimmer of the Week: Tony Carroll, IUPUI<br \/>\nIn winning three individual events last weekend, Carroll helped IUPUI defeat Valparaiso and Wright State in separate dual meets. He won the 200 free against Valparaiso in 1:42.24 and took the 100 back (52.01) and 500 free (4:42.66) against Wright State.<\/p>\n<p>Female Swimmer of the Week: Lexi Laird, IUPUI<br \/>\nIUPUI&#8217;s women&#8217;s team remains undefeated this season, and carried that streak last weekend in victories over Valparaiso, Butler and Wright State. In the tri-meet against Valparaiso and Butler, she won the 100 free (53.78) and was second in the 50 free (24.41). She won both backstroke events (57.53, 2:02.27) in the dual against Wright State.<\/p>\n<p>Male Diver of the Week: Clark Kocourek, South Dakota State<br \/>\nIn the dual between South Dakota State and South Dakota, Kocourek won both diving events. He just missed qualifying for the NCAA zone championships in his win in the 3-meter, scoring 319.80 points. He won the 1-meter event with 274.72 points.<\/p>\n<p>Female Diver of the Week: Greysen Hertting, South Dakota State<br \/>\nHertting also won both diving events in the dual meet against South Dakota, claiming an NCAA zone qualifying time on the 1-meter springboard with 269.48 points, then winning the 3-meter event with 263.85 points.<\/p>\n<p>Western Athletic Conference<\/p>\n<p>Male Swimmer of the Week: Ilya Glazunov, Grand Canyon<br \/>\nGlazunov started off his meet against Air Force with a winning time of 20.63 in the 50 free, then broke 45 seconds to win the 100 free with a 44.91. He anchored GCU&#8217;s winning 400 free relay with a 44.29 split.<\/p>\n<p>Female Swimmer of the Week: Emma Lowther, Northern Arizona<br \/>\nLowther showed off her range in the freestyle events with wins in the 100, 200, 500 and 1000 freestyles over two days last weekend. She won the 1000 free in 10:28.03 and the 100 free in 53.85 in the dual meet against Northern Colorado on Friday, then followed it up with a time of 1:54.74 in the 200 free and 5:06.46 in the 500 free to win those events against Colorado State.<\/p>\n<p>Male Diver of the Week: Derek Campbell, Wyoming<br \/>\nAt both dual meets against Illinois-Chicago and Northwestern, Campbell won the 3-meter springboard events, with his best score being a personal-best 379.65 points.<\/p>\n<p>Female Diver of the Week: Chelsea Jackson, Northern Arizona<br \/>\nJackson celebrated a career-best score on the 3-meter springboard Friday with a winning tally of 316.80 points and also won the 1-meter with 299.85 points, not far off her best score.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PHOENIX, Arizona, November 13.
