NEW COMMIT:<\/strong>\u00a0Wixom, Mich. native and current high school junior\u00a0Eric Hieber\u00a0<\/strong>has handed Grand Valley State University their first verbal commitment for the 2020-21 season and beyond.<\/p>\n

A freestyler who gets faster as the distance gets longer, Hieber swims year-round with Sailfish Swim Club and owns four Winter Junior standards. He most recently competed at the Michigan Open where he won the 1000 free and mile, achieving a best time in the latter. Also competing for Walled Lake Western High School, Hieber is a five-time Michigan DII State Championship finalist.\u00a0He won the 200 free and was the 500 free runner-up as a junior after finishing ninth and fifth, respectively, in those events during his sophomore season.<\/p>\n

He told\u00a0Swimming World:<\/em><\/p>\n

“I am excited to continue my swimming career at GVSU. The coaches and athletes are very positive and I\u2019m looking forward to swimming with them in 2020. After my visit to Grand Valley I was positive it was the right decision. The team members and coaches that I met made the decision easy. I’m looking forward to my senior year of high school and being part of Grand Valley State University in the fall of 2020!”<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
