There were plenty of strong swims in the second stop of the series, with <strong>Ye Shiwen\u00a0<\/strong>posting a surprise world-leading time in the 200 breast,\u00a0<strong>Sun Yang\u00a0<\/strong>topping the world rankings in the 400 free, and Great Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ben Proud\u00a0<\/strong>just missing the top mark in the 50 free.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The meet format features two sessions of timed finals over two days, with only four swimmers competing in each event. All athletes were invited to compete. In addition to nine Olympic gold medalists on the meet roster, there will also be 16 World Championships gold medalists and 42 Olympic or World Championships medalists competing.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Links to the live results for the FINA Champions Swim Series are below, as are the results and recaps for each event. Sun swam a strategic race that saw him break away from the rest of the pack over the final 200. The Olympic gold medalist actually negative split the race (1:51.57 \/ 1:51.18).<\/p>\n<p>In second was former world leader\u00a0<strong>Gabriele Detti <\/strong>from Italy, who couldn&#8217;t hold on with Sun when he broke away around the 250 mark. It was <strong>Cate Campbell <\/strong>who took a win, improving on her season best in the 50 free by .30 to post a 24.00 in her first individual swim of the Champions Series. Just behind her was\u00a0<strong>Sarah Sjostrom <\/strong>in 24.11, who is the current world leader in the 50 with a 23.91 from just a couple weeks ago at the Stockholm Open.<\/p>\n<p>Olympic gold medalist\u00a0<strong>Pernille Blume <\/strong>had a strong swim for third (24.28), her first 50 of 2019 within the world rankings . He was followed closely by China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Li Zhuhao\u00a0<\/strong>and South Africa&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Chad le Clos<\/strong>, who both finished in matching 51.66&#8217;s to tie for second. The world record holder was two-tenth&#8217;s off of her season-best but still won by a comfortable margin in 25.55.<\/p>\n<p>Just behind her was American\u00a0<strong>Kelsi Dahlia<\/strong>, who joined Sjostrom under 26 seconds and was just about a tenth off her season best.
