COLLEGIATE swimming and diving competition is getting more intense as the season rolls along, which does not make it easy for conferences to dole out weekly swimming and diving honors.<\/p>\n<p>Below is the list of athletes praised for their efforts in the past week.<\/p>\n<p>American Athletic Conference<br \/>\nMale Swimmer of the Week: Joao de Lucca, Louisville<br \/>\nDe Lucca wins this award for the second consecutive week, thanks to a great dual meet against North Carolina. Though the Cardinals lost the meet, de Lucca improved on his time in the 200 free, winning with a 1:36.58 to move closer to the top of the collegiate standings on his journey to defending his NCAA title.<\/p>\n<p>Female Swimmer of the Week: Isabella Arcila, Southern Methodist<br \/>\nArcila won the 100 back in both dual meets against Rice and Houston, getting her time down to 56.20. She also won the 200 back against Rice with a 2:01.30.<\/p>\n<p>Atlantic 10 Conference<br \/>\nMale Swimmer of the Week: Viacheslav Shchukin, St. Bonaventure<br \/>\nShchukin continues to put up times that are challenging those put up at more prestigious Division I schools. In the 100 free against La Salle and Duquesne, the Russian swam a 44.09, his fastest of the season and good enough to put him in the top 10 nationally.<\/p>\n<p>Female Swimmer of the Week: (tie) Meghan Smith, Duquesne, and Zoe Judd, Massachusetts<br \/>\nSmith gets her second-straight weekly conference title, sharing it with Massachusetts&#8217; Judd. Smith won the 100 fly in the tri-meet against La Salle and St. Bonaventure, and just missed out on winning the 100 free by .04. Judd won three individual events in the dual against Binghamton, taking the 50 free, 200 free and 200 back.<\/p>\n<p>Male Rookie of the Week: Matt Goettler, St. Bonventure<br \/>\nGoettler&#8217;s standout swim was the 100 breaststroke in the tri-meet against La Salle and Duquesne, swimming a 58.60. He also placed second in the 200 breast with a 2:08.52.<\/p>\n<p>Female Rookie of the Week: Meriza Werenski, Massachusetts<br \/>\nWerenski broke the team record in the 400 IM on the way to beating Binghamton with a time of 4:24.78. She also won the 100 breast (1:04.78) and 200 breast (2:19.19).<\/p>\n<p>Atlantic Coast Conference<br \/>\nMale Swimmer of the Week: Dominick Glavich, North Carolina<br \/>\nIn helping the Tar Heels beat Louisville last weekend, Glavich won both butterflys (48.42, 1:45.76) as well as the 200 IM (1:49.55). Glavich was already the fastest in the 200 fly in the conference, and is now third-fastest in the 100 fly and second-fastest in the 200 IM.<\/p>\n<p>Female Swimmer of the Week: Emma Reaney, Notre Dame<br \/>\nReaney continues to dominate in the breaststroke events in every dual meet so far this season. The two breaststroke races she won over the weekend were no exception, as she posted a 1:01.94 in the 100 and 2:13.55 in the 200.<\/p>\n<p>Male Diver of the Week: Ozzie Moyer, North Carolina<br \/>\nMoyer earned a lifetime-best score on the 3-meter springboard in the dual against Louisville, getting 373.80 points to win the event and qualify for the NCAA zone championships. <\/p>\n<p>Female Diver of the Week: Kaylea Arnett, Virginia Tech<br \/>\nArnett won both springboard diving events in the quad meet against Cleveland State, Denison and Ohio State, then repeated the feat the following day in a meet with Cincinnati.<\/p>\n<p>Big Ten Conference<br \/>\nMale Swimmer of the Week: Roman Trussov, Iowa<br \/>\nTrussov had a breakout meet last weekend against Minnesota, posting two fast times in sweeping the breaststroke events. His 54.37 in the 100 puts him in the top four nationally, while his 1:59.19 in the 200 is a top-10 swim.<\/p>\n<p>Female Swimmer of the Week: Brooklynn Snodgrass, Indiana<br \/>\nSweeping the backstroke events in the tri-meet against Kentucky and Tennessee was a big help in Indiana&#8217;s points race against the two teams. Snodgrass also helped the Hoosiers get runner-up finishes in the 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay.<\/p>\n<p>Male Diver of the Week: Christian Holstein, Ohio State<br \/>\nHolstein&#8217;s score of 382.20 on the 3-meter springboard was good enough not only for the win in the quad meet with Denison, Cleveland State and Virginia Tech, but qualified him for the Zone diving champioinships.<\/p>\n<p>Female Diver of the Week: Maggie Keefer, Minnesota<br \/>\nIn the dual meet against Iowa, Keefer swept the diving events with scores in the 300-range on both boards.<\/p>\n<p>Male Freshman of the Week: Daryl Turner, Minnesota<br \/>\nTurner had another outstanding meet, winning the 100 free in 44.58 and placing second in the 100 back with a 48.55 against Iowa to claim the Freshman of the Week for the second time.<\/p>\n<p>Female Freshman of the Week: Breanne Siwicki, Minnesota<br \/>\nThe Canadian posted three wins against Iowa, taking the 1000 free (10:08.69), 500 free (4:59.85) and 400 IM (4:22.67).<\/p>\n<p>Conference USA<br \/>\nFemale Swimmer of the Week: Shelly Patton, Rice<br \/>\nPatton won six races in two dual meets last weekend, starting with a 4:23.33 in the 400 IM against SMU. The time set a new Rice pool record. Patton also won both backstroke events against SMU. She followed it up with a win in the 200 IM (2:05.54), 200 free (1:52.17) and 200 back (2:03.67).<\/p>\n<p>Female Diver of the Week: Sabrina Beaupre, Florida International<br \/>\nIn a dual meet with NJCAA powerhouse Indian River, Beaupre won both diving events, earning a season-high score of 305.02 on the 3-meter that ranks No. 1 in the conference.<\/p>\n<p>Horizon League<br \/>\nMale Swimmer of the Week: Kei Ishimaru, Illinois-Chicago<br \/>\nThree individual wins by Ishimaru helped UIC beat Milwaukee. He won the 100 fly in 50.58, the 200 fly in 1:52.31 and the 200 IM with a 1:54.24.<\/p>\n<p>Female Swimmer of the Week: Natalie Johnson, Milwaukee<br \/>\nJohnson set a freshman school record in the 1000 free last weekend, swimming a 10:14.58. It was a busy weekend for Johnson, who also won the 500 free (5:04.39), 200 fly (2:07.43) and 1650 free (17:16.56) in dual meets against UIC and Wheaton.<\/p>\n<p>Male Diver of the Week: K.J. Heger, Milwaukee<br \/>\nHeger gets a third-straight diver of the week honor after winning both springboard events in the meet against UIC. His score of 318.35 on the 3-meter broke the UIC pool record.<\/p>\n<p>Female Diver of the Week: Tricia Grant, Oakland<br \/>\nLike Heger, Grant picks up another diver of the week honor thanks to a sweep of diving events in her dual meet against Wright State. She continues to creep closer to the school record on the 3-meter, posting a score of 329.32.<\/p>\n<p>Mid-American Conference<br \/>\nMale Athlete of the Week: Evan Bader, Miami<br \/>\nA sweep of the breaststroke events by Bader in the dual meet against Cleveland State was enough to garner this week&#8217;s honor. Additionally, Bader was part of Miami&#8217;s winning 200 medley relay and was fourth in the 200 IM.<\/p>\n<p>Female Athlete of the Week: Victoria Griffin, Bowling Green<br \/>\nGriffin continues an unbeaten streak in the 100 free, winning the event in dual meets against Xavier and Miami. Her best time of the weekend was 51.43. She&#8217;s also unbeaten in the 200 free, and won that against Xavier with a 1:51.08.<\/p>\n<p>North Coast Atlantic Conference<br \/>\nMale Swimmer of the Week: Casey Hooker, DePauw<br \/>\nHooker&#8217;s busy day in the dual meet against Washington University included three individual and one relay win. He took the 1000 free in 9:49.59, the 200 fly with a 1:55.51 and the 500 free with a 4:41.39 before leading off the winning 400 free relay with a split of 47.25.<\/p>\n<p>Female Swimmer of the Week: Dani Lacy, Wittenberg<br \/>\nA dominant dual meet win over Ohio Wesleyan was led by Lacy&#8217;s wins in the sprint freestyles in times of 25.61 and 55.05. She also had a hand in the winning 400 freestyle relay.<\/p>\n<p>Presidents&#8217; Athletic Conference<br \/>\nMale Swimmer of the Week: Drew Nosbisch, Grove City College<br \/>\nNosbisch showed his range for Grove City, winning the 100 breast (1:01.11), 500 free (4:56.22) and 200 IM (2:03.49), as well as helping out in the winning 400 free relay.<\/p>\n<p>Female Swimmer of the Week: Laura Travers, Washington &amp; Jefferson College<br \/>\nIn her first official college competition, Travers won three individual events against Frostburg State and Alderson-Broaddus. She took the 50 free in 29.04, the 100 free in 1:03.25 and the 200 free in 2:19.17.<\/p>\n<p>Southeastern Conference<br \/>\nMale Swimmer of the Week: Chase Kalisz, Georgia<br \/>\nKalisz now stands at the top of the collegiate rankings in three events after competition against conference rival Florida. He won the 200 fly in 1:43.55, the 200 breast in 1:57.20 and the 200 IM with a 1:45.23.<\/p>\n<p>Female Swimmer of the Week: Melanie Margalis, Georgia<br \/>\nMargalis was one of the toughest swimmers on Georgia&#8217;s team in their defeat of the Florida Gators. She won the 200 free with a 1:46.92 and later used a backhalf strategy to win the 200 IM in 1:57.88. Margalis also finished second in a close finish in the 200 backstroke.<\/p>\n<p>Male Diver of the Week: John Santieu, Auburn<br \/>\nAn amazing score of 400.28 points helped Santieu win the 3-meter springboard event by 50 points in the dual meet against LSU, but he couldn&#8217;t complete a sweep, placing second on the 1-meter.<\/p>\n<p>Female Diver of the Week: Kahlia Warner, Florida<br \/>\nWarner had one of her best diving meets of the season, winning the 3-meter against Georgia with 340.43 points, a season best. Earlier in the meet, she was second on the 1-meter boards with 299.55, just one point below her best score of the season.<\/p>\n<p>Male Freshman of the Week: Mitch D&#8217;Arrigo, Florida<br \/>\nContinuing an impressive freshman season, D&#8217;Arrigo raced in the distance freestyle events and put up his fastest times of the season with a 9:07.53 in the 1000 and 4:24.78 in the 500 free.<\/p>\n<p>Female Freshman of the Week: Olivia Smoliga, Georgia<br \/>\nThe reigning Swimming World Magazine Female High School Swimmer of the Year is getting into the groove of college swimming, as evidenced by her improved swims against Florida. Her second-place time of 54.43 in the 100 backstroke and runner-up time of 49.77 in the 100 free put her in the top 10 nationally in both races.<\/p>\n<p>Summit League<br \/>\nMale Swimmer of the Week: Wil Hogue, South Dakota State<br \/>\nWith a 21.07 in the 50 free to win in the dual meet against Green Bay, Hogue earns this week&#8217;s honor. He was also second in the 100 free (47.48) and was part of the runner-up 200 medley relay.<\/p>\n<p>Female Swimmer of the Week: Johanna Roas, Denver<br \/>\nRoas won the 100 free in 51.73 to help Denver beat Air Force, and was also an instrumental part of the winning 400 medley relay and 400 free relay.<\/p>\n<p>Male Diver of the Week: Connor Florand, South Dakota State<br \/>\nIn the dual meet against Green Bay, Florand won the 3-meter with a season-best 283.50 and was third in the 1-meter event with a score of 250.95 points.<\/p>\n<p>Female Diver of the Week: Cat Badilo, Denver<br \/>\nBadilo set a home-pool record over the weekend in the defeat of Air Force, earning 274.28 points on the 1-meter springboard and qualifying for the NCAA zone championships.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PHOENIX, Arizona, November 5.
