A USA-Mexico dual-citizen, he most recently competed at NCSAs where his highest finish was a 16th-place showing in the 50 breast after placing seventh in the 50 fly at Columbia Speedo Sectionals.<\/p>\n<p>A current senior at Bishop Miege High School,\u00a0Hernandez-Nietling is also a seven-time Kansas State Championships finalist. He is a state record holder as part of the 4&#215;50 medley relay and has earned gold medals in the 50 free, 100 fly and 4&#215;100 free relay throughout his career.<\/p>\n<p>He told\u00a0<em>Swimming World:<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #d90909;\"><strong>\u201cI am beyond excited and happy to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the U!!! Thank you to God, my family, coaches and the boys for helping me get to this point in my career and I am super stoked to wear the Utah cap!!!!!! #goUtes\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>His best times include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>50 breast &#8211; 25.82<\/li>\n<li>100 breast &#8211; 56.42<\/li>\n<li>50 fly &#8211; 22.42<\/li>\n<li>100 fly &#8211; 48.91<\/li>\n<li>50 back &#8211; 22.75<\/li>\n<li>100 back &#8211; 50.11<\/li>\n<li>50 free &#8211; 20.84<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When he suits up for the Utes as a member of the class of 2023, versatile Hernandez-Nietling will add his talents to sprint groups that&#8217;ll include\u00a0<strong>Andy Britton<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>David Fridlander\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Benjamin Waterman<\/strong>.
