The meet continued in Rio de Janeiro, with finals of the men\u2019s and women\u2019s 200 IM, 50 butterfly, 50 backstroke and the women&#8217;s 400 freestyle.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/trofeubrasil.cbda.org.br\/\">2019 BRAZIL TROPHY \u2013 LIVE RESULTS<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ilaria Cucinato<\/strong> of Italy dominated the women&#8217;s 200 IM in 2:13.96, off the FINA &#8216;A&#8217; standard of 2:09.21. Her season-best 2:11.89 ranks eighteenth in the world so far this year. She was followed by Argentina&#8217;s <strong>Florencia Perotti<\/strong> in 2:15.37 and Brazil&#8217;s <strong>Gabrielle Goncalves Roncatto<\/strong> (2:15.96).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?s=caio+pumputis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Caio Pumputis<\/strong><\/a> climbed the world rankings to eighth in the men&#8217;s race after dropping a big 1:57.70. His teammates <strong>Leonardo Santos<\/strong> (1:59.56) and <strong>Gabriel Ogawa<\/strong> (1:59.92) also snuck under FINA&#8217;s &#8216;A&#8217; cut with big time drops.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Daiene Dias<\/strong>, also of Brazil, took the 50 butterfly title in 26.31 seconds. She dipped under the &#8216;A&#8217; cut by three one hundredths of a second and jumped to twenty-second in the world this year. <strong>Giovanna Diamante<\/strong> and <strong>Luanna Martins De Oliveira<\/strong> tied for second in 26.65. Top-seeded <strong>Mallory Comerford<\/strong> of the United States took fifth in 26.73.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nicholas Santos<\/strong> kept the fast racing going, blasting a 22.77 butterfly for the title. The swim ranks second in the world this year, only behind Russia&#8217;s <strong>Oleg Kostin<\/strong> (22.74). It was also just thirteen one hundredths off Santos&#8217; Brazilian National Record in the event. <strong>Gabriel Santos<\/strong> (23.43) and <strong>Vini Lanza<\/strong> (23.51) rounded out the podium. They both dropped &#8216;A&#8217; cuts and surged into the top fifteen of the world rankings.<\/p>\n<p>National-record-holder <strong>Etiene Medeiros<\/strong> cranked out a 50 backstroke in similar fashion to Santos. She posted a 27.36, good enough for the fastest time in the world this year. Her Brazilian record stands at 27.14 from 2017&#8217;s World Championships. <strong>Andrea Berrino<\/strong> was second (28.59) and <strong>Erika Goncalves<\/strong> was third (28.77).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Guilherme Guido<\/strong> stole the men&#8217;s race in 24.94 &#8211; the sixth-best performance of 2019 so far. <strong>Gabriel Fantoni<\/strong>, whose 24.90 from the preliminaries ranks fifth, ultimately took third in 25.12. <strong>Guilherme Basseto<\/strong> split the men in 24.99, putting him tenth in the world. All three men were ahead of the FINA&#8217;s standard.<\/p>\n<p>Argentina&#8217;s <strong>Delfina Pignatiello<\/strong> raced to a 4:09.22 for the 400 freestyle victory.
