NEW COMMITS:\u00a0<\/strong>Auburn University has added a pair of verbal commitments for the 2020-21 season from Slidell, Louisiana’s\u00a0Michael Bonson\u00a0<\/strong>and Lawrenceville, Georgia’s\u00a0Evan McInerny<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Bonson, who swims year-round with Hurricane Swim Club, owns four Summer Juniors cuts and is a versatile freestyler. At NCSAs last month, he notched six new best times and took seventh in the 200 free after finishing 14th in the 500 free at Juniors West this past winter. He won four events at LA LCM States in July before going on to take 17th in the 400m free at NCSAs last summer.<\/p>\n

The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American is also a six-time Louisiana D1 State Championship finalist while representing Northshore High School. He won the 200 free and 500 free as a junior after taking sixth and fourth, respectively, in those events during his sophomore campaign. He also broke the state record in the 500 free<\/a> this past season.<\/p>\n

He told\u00a0Swimming World:<\/em><\/p>\n

“I\u2019m extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study for Auburn University for the class of 2024. The amazing team, coaches, facilities, and academic support will help me to achieve my goals in and out of the pool. I would like to thank God as well as my family, friends, teachers, and coaches who have helped me all throughout this process. WAR DAMN EAGLE!!”<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
