He qualified for the world championships with his time.<\/p>\n<p>Jervis won the event in 14:46.51. It puts him as the third fastest performer in the world this year.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Gregoria Paltrinieri<\/strong>, 14:38.34<\/li>\n<li><strong>Florian Wellbrock<\/strong>, 14:42.91<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>Daniel Jervis, 14:46.51<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>William Bell<\/strong> finished second in 15:21.23, followed by <strong>Tom Derbyshire<\/strong> (15:25.38).<\/p>\n<h2>Women\u2019s 50 Free<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Anna Hopkin<\/strong> won the national title with a 24.99 in the 50 free to kick off the women&#8217;s session of the 2019 British Swimming Championships.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Emily Barclay<\/strong> finished second in 25.09, followed by <strong>Freya Anderson<\/strong> (25.12), just missing the world standards.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kate Clifton<\/strong> finished fourth in 25.75, followed by <strong>Rachel-Louise Hasson<\/strong> (25.81), <strong>Alicia Wilson<\/strong> (25.94), <strong>Sophie Yendell<\/strong> (26.00) and <strong>Tamryn Van Selm<\/strong> (26.02).<\/p>\n<p>The British record is 23.96 set by <strong>Francesca Hall<\/strong> in 2014.<\/p>\n<h2>Men\u2019s 400 IM<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Max Litchfield<\/strong> earned a spot at the world championships with his dominating performance in the 400 IM at the 2019 British Championships.<\/p>\n<p>He finished in 4:10.94 to win the national title and qualify for worlds with the second fastest time in the world this year.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Daiya Seto,<\/strong> 4:09.24<\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Max Litchfield, 4:10.94<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>David Verraszto<\/strong>, 4:12.65<\/li>\n<li><strong>Peter Bernek<\/strong>, 4:12.80<\/li>\n<li><strong>Chase Kalisz<\/strong>, 4:13.45<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>It was also the fastest in the field my more than five seconds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mark Szaranek<\/strong> finished second in 4:16.28, followed by <strong>Brodie Williams<\/strong> (4:17.22),<strong> Joe Litchfield<\/strong> (4:18.95), <strong>Charlie<\/strong> <strong>Hutchison<\/strong> (4:19.34),<strong> Jacob Greenow<\/strong> (4:20.767), <strong>Callum Lawrie<\/strong> (4:24.27) and<strong> Nathan Wells<\/strong> (4:31.92).<\/p>\n<h2>Women\u2019s 200 Fly<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Alys Thomas<\/strong> nearly reached an automatic world qualifying time with her victory in the 200 fly, but will have to settle for a consideration time that still might land her at worlds.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas won the 200 fly in 2:07.40, just shy of the 2:07.13 needed to automatically qualify.<\/p>\n<p>But it was enough to hold off the field and win the national championship.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Laura Stephens<\/strong> finished second in 2:07.96, followed by<strong> Emily Large<\/strong> (2:09.89).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Charlotte Atkinson<\/strong> finished fourth (2:09.91), followed by<strong> Ciara Schlosshan<\/strong> (2:11.14),<strong> Hannah Miley<\/strong> (2:12.88), <strong>Sophie<\/strong> <strong>Freeman<\/strong> (2:13.13) and <strong>Isobel Grant<\/strong> (2:13.37).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Men\u2019s 100 Free<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Duncan Scott<\/strong> broke the first British record of the meet in his victory in the 100 free.<\/p>\n<p>Scott automatically qualified for the world championships with his swim of 47.87. It broke his own national record in the event.<\/p>\n<p>It is the third-fastest time in the world this year.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Vladislav Grinev<\/strong>, 47.43<\/li>\n<li><strong>Kyle Chalmers<\/strong>, 47.48<\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Duncan Scott, 47.87<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Vladimir Morozov<\/strong>, 48.04<\/li>\n<li><strong>Junyi He<\/strong>, 48.10<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>He needed to go under 48 to qualify for worlds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Scott McLay<\/strong> finished in second in 49.05, followed by David <strong>Cumberlidge<\/strong>, who took third in 49.11.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jake Thorpe<\/strong> was fourth (49.54), followed by <strong>Craig McLean<\/strong> (49.89), <strong>Calum Jarvis<\/strong> (50.05), <strong>Yukuke Legard<\/strong> (50.46) and <strong>Timothy Shuttleworth<\/strong> (50.47).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 2019 British Swimming Championships continues to impress with fast swimming from some of the top swimmers in the world.
