SPRINGFIELD, Missouri, November 1. MISSOURI State’s Paul Le and Isaac Springer each set a pool record Friday night to lead Missouri State to a sweep over Evansville. The Missouri State men’s team has never lost to Evansville, as they improved their overall record to 16-0. The Missouri State women are now 12-2 against Evansville. <\/p>\n

The Missouri State swimming & diving teams swept dual meets from Evansville at Hammons Student Center Pool Friday.<\/p>\n
The men won, 131-103, and the women took a 142-95 decision. With the victories, the men’s team improved to 16-0 all-time against the Purple Aces while the women moved to 12-2 overall versus UE.<\/p>\n
Two more pool records fell on Friday, with junior Paul Le breaking the 50-yard freestyle record in 20.35 and sophomore Isaac Springer the 100 breaststroke mark in 55.89. The Bears won 18 of the 26 events contested on the day with a pair of MSU swimmers picking up their first collegiate victories.<\/p>\n
Freshmen Naresh Naik and Brandon Weissman each won for the first time in the careers at the college level. Naik won the 1,000 free and 100 free in 9:33.24 and 100 free in 47.76, respectively, while Weissman claimed the 500 free in 4:45.18.<\/p>\n
Coming off of MAC Swimmer of the Week honors, junior diver Garrett Nevels repeated as the winner of both men’s springboard events. He won the 1-meter dive with 292.12 points and 3-meter event with 324.75.<\/p>\n
Five Bears won multiple individual events. Aside from the two victories apiece from Naik and Nevels , sophomore Dora Kiss took the 200 (1:53.43) and 500 free (5:01.66), senior Renata Sander won the 200 IM (2:09.85) and 100 breast (1:05.10) and senior Yuri Garanito the 200 IM (1:57.29) and 100 back (50.11). Le joined the two-win club with a victory in the 100 butterfly in 48.97, as well.<\/p>\n
Missouri State was victorious in both 200 medley relays. Megan Holthoff, Sander, Ibby Simcox and Janke Engelbrecht touched in 1:48.12 on the women’s side. Le, Springer Vitalii Baryshok and Uvis Kalnins claimed the men’s race in 1:30.51.<\/p>\n
The Bears are back in action Saturday, hosting Southern Illinois at 11 a.m.<\/p>\n

The University of Evansville Purple Aces swimming & diving teams lost a tough fought battle against Missouri State in a dual meet Friday night, with the Aces women’s squad losing 142-95 and the Aces men’s squad losing 131-103.<\/p>\n
The Lady Aces top performer of the night was Danielle Freeman who won the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.11. Freeman was a part of the women’s 200-yard medley relay team along with Michaela Kent, Mackenzie Powell and Melissa Ball, which placed second with a time of 1:48.94. She was also part of the women’s 400-yard medley relay team with Abby Smith, Michaela Kent and Michelle Tipton, which placed first in the heat with a time of 3:35.69.<\/p>\n
For the Lady Bears the top performer of the night was Renata Sander who placed first in all three of her events. She had times of 1:48.12 in the 200-yard medley relay, 2:09.85 in the 200 yard IM and 1:05.10 in the 100-yard breaststroke.<\/p>\n
For the Aces men’s squad, Reid Mobley had a terrific night. He finished third in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:01.94, second in the 100 yard back with a time of 55.19 and was part of the 200 yard medley relay team along with Conor Sprick, Carder LaBrake and Tom Steele which finished fourth with a time of 1:42.65. Junior Ashton Bishop continued his great season by placing second in the 50 yard free with a time of 21.77.<\/p>\n
The Bears men’s squad had top performer Vitalii Baryshok who took first in the 200 yard free and was a part of the 200-yard medley relay team that finished first.<\/p>\n
Continuing the Aces strong performance was the diving squad. Stephanie Tran finished first in the women’s 1 & 3 meter diving contests, while Alex Hart had a second and third place finish as well. On the men’s side Mallet Reid finished second in the men’s 3-meter contest.<\/p>\n
The Aces men’s squad will swim tomorrow versus Ball State at Wyttenbach Pool at 2 p.m., while the women’s squad doesn’t compete again until Nov. 8 against Illinois State.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
