The 2019 Swim Cup in Eindhoven saw its share of elite performances this weekend, with several Dutch superstars sharing the stage.<\/p>\n

Two of the biggest shared the stage in the same event as Ranomi Kromowidjojo<\/strong> and Femke Heemskerk<\/strong> tied to win the 100 free in 53.49.<\/p>\n

Ties are always a bit of a stunner, but these two friends enjoyed sharing the spotlight.<\/p>\n

Heemskerk posted a picture of the two of them on social media reading: \u201cTied 1st place tonight with this one. Going to have dinner together to share the prize money.\u201d<\/p>\n

Heemskerk used a strong first-half to a the lead with a 25.68 split, ahead of Kromowidjojo\u2019s 26.15, but the back half by the Olympic champion surged her into the tie.<\/p>\n

The time has them tied for eighth fastest in the world this year.<\/p>\n

Cate Campbell<\/strong> of Australis is first in 52.35, followed by Japan\u2019s Rikako Ikee<\/strong> (52.79), Australia\u2019s Emma McKeon<\/strong> (52.84), Australia\u2019s Shayna Jack<\/strong> (53.20) and Canada\u2019s Taylor Ruck<\/strong> (53.26), Sweden\u2019s Sarah Sjostrom<\/strong> (53.29) and Simone Manuel<\/strong> (53.38) of the U.S.<\/p>\n

Dutch sprinter Kim Busch<\/strong> won the bronze in the event in 54.40.<\/p>\n

The tie wasn\u2019t the only stunning performance of the meet.<\/p>\n

Teenager Tes Schouten<\/strong> broke her own national record in the 100 breast, finishing in 1:06.96, becoming the first Dutch swimmer to break 1:07. Her previous best was 1:07.97 set in prelims.<\/p>\n

In the men\u2019s meet, Arjan Knipping<\/strong> tied the Dutch record in the 400 IM after finishing the race in 4:15.38. He tied the mark set by Marcel Wouda<\/strong> in 1997.<\/p>\n

It was a tough meet, however, for Kira Toussaint<\/strong>. One of the top names in swimming was disqualified in two different races. In the 100 back final, she was disqualified for exceeding the 15-meter mark. The same thing happened during a time trial.<\/p>\n

But she finished on a much better note, winning the 50 back in 27.98.<\/p>\n

Dutch swimmers weren\u2019t the only successful racers during the meet.<\/p>\n

Italian Domenico Acerenza<\/strong> won the 400 free. Finishing in third was Dutch swimmer Luc Kroon<\/strong>, who set the national junior record in the event in 3:51.73.<\/p>\n

After winning the Italian title in the 50 back, Tomas Ceccon<\/strong> broke his own national junior record won win in 25.66.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
