EDMONTON, Alberta, Canada, October 22. THE news surrounding Eric Hansen’s leave of absence hasn’t slowed down the recruiting train at the University of Arizona, as the Wildcats got a verbal commitment tonight from Canada’s Paige Kremer.<\/p>\n
Kremer represented Canada at the junior long course world championships last summer in Dubai, placing 14th in the 100 free with a 56.59 and 16th in the 50 free with a 26.46. She currently holds a best time of 25.88 in the 50 free from this past January and a lifetime best of 56.26 in the 100 free from the Canadian summer championships.<\/p>\n
Being Canadian, Kremer has little to no short course yards experience, but will help the team next fall as they work to fill the gap left by NCAA champion Margo Geer, who ends her collegiate eligibility this season. Kremer’s times are comparable to Geer’s before she arrived in Tucson. Geer was 26.00 and 56.18 in the sprint long course freestyles the summer before her freshman year in college.<\/p>\n
Kremer will have some work to do in the 200 free, as her long course best time sits at 2:06.33.<\/p>\n
