Previously based out of Charlotte, North Carolina, Team Elite is the premier high-performance swim training group in the United States for prospective Olympians and has trained Olympic gold medalists<strong> Ryan Lochte, Kathleen Baker<\/strong> and <strong>Katie Meili<\/strong>. Marsh has coached 49 Olympians from 19 countries and led the U.S. Olympic Women&#8217;s Swim Team to the most medal wins in USA Swimming history during the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.<\/p>\n<p>Team Elite currently trains Olympians Baker, <strong>Anthony Ervin, Lia Neal, Ryosuke Irie<\/strong>, Meili, <strong>Jacob Pebley<\/strong>, and National Team Members <strong>Ali DeLoof, Michael Chadwick, Marius Kusch<\/strong> and <strong>Kendyl Stewart<\/strong>, all of whom are training for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Hcd27lXO0nc\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs technical director of the Israeli National Swimming Team, I connected with the Lawrence Family JCC and discovered a shared of vision of creating a West Coast center of athletic excellence for the Israeli National Team,\u201d Marsh said. \u201cMy wife and I were excited to move Team Elite to Southern California and hope to have a positive impact on the competitive swimming community in San Diego. Plus, it was the perfect opportunity and location for Team Elite as Tokyo 2020 approaches.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The JCC is one of only eight facilities in San Diego County with an Olympic-sized pool, sized at 25 meters by 50 meters, which allows for both short and long course training. The average American competition pool is 25 yards long.<\/p>\n<p>The JCC currently owns and operates a recreational swim program, The Barracudas, in its facility for children ages 5 and up. With the guidance of Marsh and his coaches, the JCC will expand its program to offer a progressive group for ages up to 13 with a focus on age-specific techniques including swimming legal strokes, refining starts, turns, and finishes, adding endurance, increasing speed and stamina and enjoying the team environment. Marsh is also offering an official USA Swimming club team with limited enrollment, and members will be selected based on ability following a tryout. Tryouts are now underway for both programs. Additionally, Marsh will host swim academy clinics, stroke technique sessions and skill enhancement programs for all levels throughout the year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe the JCC\u2019s swim programs are going to see a tremendous boost under David\u2019s guidance and expertise,\u201d said <strong>Spencer Lynch<\/strong>, assistant sports, fitness and aquatics director at the JCC. \u201cHis presence is an incredible opportunity for the San Diego swimming community. Just imagine the excitement of an 8-year-old when they realize they\u2019re swimming in the same pool next to an Olympian.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Placement and information sessions for The Barracudas are currently being held by appointment only at the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center, located at 4126 Executive Drive in La Jolla.
