World record holder <\/span><b>Katie Ledecky <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is returning to the series after missing the Pro Swim Series stop in Des Moines, and will be competing in tonight\u2019s 800 free for the first time during the 2019 circuit (she swam the mile at the opening stop in Knoxville). <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">U.S. Open record holder <\/span><b>Zane Grothe <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will be entering as the top seed in the men\u2019s 800 free tonght. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/results\/pdf\/2019-tyr-pro-swim-series-richmond-psych-sheet-day-4-international-elite-2019-04-10.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PSYCH SHEET<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Women\u2019s 800 Free<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As expected, <\/span><b>Katie Ledecky <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ran away from the rest of the field, taking the lead early to put up the #1 time in the world for 2019 with a 8:14.24. That puts the world record holder just ahead of China\u2019s <\/span><b>Wang Jianjiahe<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, who was ranked #1 with her recent Asian record from the 2019 Chinese Nationals. The 23-year old&#8217;s<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0previous best was a 8:17.21 from the 2018 Pan Pacific Championships where she finished third behind Ledecky and Australian <\/span><b>Ariarne Titmus<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Titmus herself swam the 800 this week at the Australian National Championships, where she posted a time of 8:18.61, which currently ranks right behind Smith. Grothe ended up with the win tonight, touching first in 7:55.78. Acosta couldn\u2019t quite match Grothe\u2019s pace coming home, but he ended in second also under 8:00 with a 7:59.17.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>That was just off of Grothe&#8217;s season best from the Des Moines stop of the TYR Pro Swim Series, where he finished in 7:54.28.
