﻿{"id":362938,"date":"2019-04-06T17:01:41","date_gmt":"2019-04-07T00:01:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=362938"},"modified":"2019-04-06T17:01:41","modified_gmt":"2019-04-07T00:01:41","slug":"2019-japanese-swimming-championships-day-5-seto-wins-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/2019-japanese-swimming-championships-day-5-seto-wins-again\/","title":{"rendered":"2019 Japanese Swimming Championships Day 5: Seto Wins Again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>By Olivia Wile, Swimming World College Intern.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Today marked the fifth day of the\u00a02019 Japanese Swimming Championships.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Daiya Seto<\/strong> had another big day, winning the men&#8217;s 200m IM after posting a 1:54 200m fly in finals\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/2019-japanese-swimming-championships-day-4-seto-posts-154-200-fly\/\">yesterday<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The session&#8217;s full lineup included the men&#8217;s 200m IM, men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s 100m free final, men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s 200m breaststroke semi final, women&#8217;s 200m fly final and men&#8217;s 200m back semi final.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/swim.seiko.co.jp\/en\/2019\/S70701\/eng_index.htm\">Live Results<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/swim.seiko.co.jp\/en\/\">Meet\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Men 200m IM Final<\/h3>\n<p>After finishing first in the men&#8217;s 200m fly and the semi final of the 200m IM, <strong>Diaya Seto<\/strong> got things done again today. He finished first in the final of the 200m IM with a time of 1:56.69, off the national record but still a<a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimming.org.sg\/getattachment\/SSA\/SWIMMING\/Selection-Policy\/Selection_Policy-2018-(1)\/Selection-Criteria-18th-FINA-World-Swimming-Championships.pdf.aspx\"> Gwangju Worlds A Cut<\/a>. Finishing second with a time of 1:58.66 was Juran Mizohata.<\/p>\n<p>Both in the sub-two minute range were <strong>Tomoya Takeuchi<\/strong> and <strong>Takeharu Fujimori<\/strong>. Takeuchi finished third (1:59.26) with Fujimori finishing fourth (1:59.36).<\/p>\n<p>Finishing fifth with a time of 2:00.21 was <strong>Yuuki Ikari<\/strong>. <strong>Takumi Uchiyama<\/strong> finished sixth (2:02.02), <strong>Hiroya Yama<\/strong> placed seventh (2:20.32) and <strong>Masayuki Ohtake<\/strong> touched eighth (2:02.46).<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 100m Freestyle Final<\/h3>\n<p>Taking first in the women\u2019s 100m free today was <strong>Tomomi Aoki<\/strong>. She finished\u00a0 with a time of 54.45, off the national record time but just at the A cut.<\/p>\n<p>A close second (54.51) and third (54.56) went to<strong> Rika Oomoto<\/strong> and <strong>Rio Shirai<\/strong>. Pushing fourth (54.70) and fifth (54.72) were <strong>Chihiro Igarashi<\/strong> and <strong>Aya Satou<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Finishing sixth with a time of 55.24 was <strong>Sayuki Ouchi<\/strong>.<strong> Nagisa Ikemoto<\/strong> took seventh (55.43) and\u00a0<strong>Yui Yamane<\/strong> touched eighth (55.52).<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 100m Freestyle Final<\/h3>\n<p>Following the women&#8217;s 100m free were the men. <strong>Katsumi Nakamura<\/strong> finished first in finals with a time of 48.55. <strong>Shinri Shioura<\/strong> finished a close second (48.48).<\/p>\n<p>In third with a time of 48.71 was <strong>Katsuhiro Matsumoto<\/strong>. Taking fourth (49.22) in the event was<strong> Kaiya Seki<\/strong>, Akira Nanba finished fifth (29.33).<\/p>\n<p>Sixth, seventh and eighth went to <strong>Mashiro Kawane<\/strong> (49.46),<strong> Koutarou Takahshi<\/strong> (49.60) and <strong>Kousuke Matsui<\/strong> (49.80).<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 200m Breastroke Semi Final<\/h3>\n<p>Up next was the semi final of the men&#8217;s 100m breaststroke. <strong>Ippei Watanabe<\/strong> finished first with a t time of 209.36. He took second in the 100m breast on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/2019-japanese-swimming-championships-day-2-women-just-off-world-a-cuts\/\">Wednesday<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Next to the wall was<strong> Kazuki Kohinata<\/strong>, he finished at 2:10.24. In third place with a time of 2:10.68 was Yasuhiro Koseki.<\/p>\n<p>All staying in the 2:10 range were <strong>Ryuya Miura<\/strong>, <strong>Kazuki Hayashi<\/strong> and <strong>Yukihiro Takahashi<\/strong>. Miura finished fourth (2:10.85), Hayashi paced fifth (2:10.88) and Takahashi took sixth (2:10.99).<\/p>\n<p>In seventh with a time of 2:11.11 was <strong>Mamoru Mouri<\/strong>. Third-place finisher in the 100m breast<strong> Hayato Watanabe<\/strong> took eighth (2:11.12).<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 200m Butterfly Final<\/h3>\n<p>It was <strong>Suzuka Hasegawa\u00a0<\/strong>that won the women&#8217;s 200m fly final today. She finished with a time of 2:07.44, which is an A cut. Taking a close second with a time of 2:07.57 was\u00a0<strong>Yui Ohhashi<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Both in the 2:08 range were <strong>Hiroko Makino<\/strong> and <strong>Sachi Mochida<\/strong>. Makino won the 100m fly on Wednesday but finished third (2:08.17) today. Mochida finished fourth (2:08.96).<\/p>\n<p>Taking fifth in the event with a time\u00a0of 2:09.87 was <strong>Sakiko Shimizu.\u00a0<\/strong>Sixth (2:11.04) went to <strong>Tsukimi Takeyama,<\/strong> <strong>Karin Takemura<\/strong> finished seventh (2:11.71) and <strong>Airi Mitsui<\/strong> placed eighth (2:12.71).<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 200m Breaststroke Semi Final<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Kanako Watanabe<\/strong> won the semi-final of the women&#8217;s 200m breaststroke. She got to the wall with a time of 2:25.32, well off the national record but still an A cut. A close second went to <strong>Shiori Asaba<\/strong> finishing with a time of 2:25.40.<\/p>\n<p>In third with a time of 2:26.91 was <strong>Runa Imai<\/strong>. <strong>Kako Ishida<\/strong> finished fourth (2:27.56) while <strong>Mai Fukasawa<\/strong> took fifth (2:27.76).<\/p>\n<p>Finishing off top eight were\u00a0<strong>Satomi Suzuki<\/strong>, <strong>Mei Ishihara<\/strong> and<strong> Miho Takahashi<\/strong>. Suzuki\u00a0placed sixth (2:27.81), Ishihara took seventh (2:27.86) and Takahashi finished eighth (2:27.91).<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 200m Backstroke Semi Final<\/h3>\n<p>Finishing off today&#8217;s session was the semi final of the men&#8217;s 200m backstroke. Taking first with a time of 1:58.27 was <strong>Ryosuke Irie<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Touching second with a time of 1:58.99 was <strong>Hayate Mastubara<\/strong>. <strong>Yuuki Maruyama<\/strong> finished third (1:59.41). Fourth (1:59.42) went to <strong>Yuma Edo<\/strong> with <strong>Keita Sunama<\/strong> taking fifth (1:59.55).<\/p>\n<p>Still in the sub-two minute range were <strong>Ryota Naitou<\/strong> and <strong>Ryuka Ino<\/strong>.
