ATLANTA, Georgia, October 14. TALK about locking your state down. Georgia head coach Jack Bauerle has now picked up pretty much every high profile Class of 2014 recruit from the Dynamo Swim Club after No. 2 recruit in the class Gunnar Bentz of Dynamo just announced he’s going to be a Bulldog.<\/p>\n
Bentz, who is ranked No.2 by CollegeSwimming.com, is a can’t miss recruit who already has some serious ability across the board, and training with 400 IM NCAA Champion Chase Kalisz for a few years couldn’t have hurt.<\/p>\n
“I’m so excited to train with Chase, the Litherlands, and others to make the best IM group in the nation!” Bentz told Swimming World of his announcement tonight.<\/p>\n
Bentz, a World Junior Championship roster member, threw down a blazing fast 1:59.44 in the men’s 200-meter IM in Dubai, and also clocked a smoking fast 4:14.51 in the 400-meter IM at the Speedo Junior National Championships this summer. He also possesses a strong breaststroke arsenal with a 2:12.88 in the 200-metr breast as well as a 1:02.20 in the 100-meter breast. <\/p>\n
Bentz is also a short course beast. He has a 1:45.17 in the 200-yard IM and a 3:45.80 in the 400-yard IM from last December’s Winter Nationals, as well as a 1:56.59 in the 200-yard breast from the Georgia Senior Short Course Championships last December as well. <\/p>\n
Bentz also earned the rare honor of being a cover personality of Swimming World Magazine. There’s only 12 of them a year, and he was named one of four swimmers to watch for coming out of the Speedo Junior Nationals this summer. <\/p>\n
Bentz had a tremendous outing in Dubai at the World Junior Championships, scoring gold medals in the 200 and 400 IMs. <\/p>\n
