Max McHugh&#8217;s 200 breaststroke record, which had seemed untouchable, was put on notice in both prelims and finals. In the women&#8217;s meet, there was a tie for first in two events.<\/p>\n<h3>Women<\/h3>\n<p>The women from Blue Ash won the opening event of the night as <strong>Emma Shuppert <\/strong>(24.89),\u00a0<strong>Kathy Zhao <\/strong>(29.81),\u00a0<strong>Megan Glass <\/strong>(23.88), and\u00a0<strong>Emma Fortman\u00a0<\/strong>(22.93) touched in 1:41.51 to take the 200 medley relay. Des Moines&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Ellie Clark<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Mary Martin<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Berit Quass\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Jasmine Rumley\u00a0<\/strong>were second in 1:41.80. Bath Area&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ella Martin<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Haily Harper<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Olivia Harper<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Margie McLeod\u00a0<\/strong>were third in 1:41.88.<\/p>\n<p>After a quick relay split, Glass was back to win the 100 fly. She touched the wall in 53.24 to tie for the victory with Orlando&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Olivia Taylor<\/strong>. Spartanburg&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Annika McEnroe\u00a0<\/strong>(53.99) finished third.<\/p>\n<p>Bradford&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Paige Hetrick\u00a0<\/strong>ran away with the 200 backstroke, touching in 1:53.09. That time was over three seconds ahead of Countryside&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Maggie Clough\u00a0<\/strong>in second (1:56.46) and Red Bank&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Grace Kayal\u00a0<\/strong>(1:56.68) in third.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Charity Pittard\u00a0<\/strong>of Boise won the 200 breaststroke in 2:11.54. Spartanburg took second and third with\u00a0<strong>Annika McEnroe\u00a0<\/strong>(2:12.68) and <strong>H<\/strong><strong>annah Ownbey\u00a0<\/strong>(2:14.29).<\/p>\n<p>The night ended for the women with a second tie for a National Title. Sarasota&#8217;s <strong>Emma Weyant\u00a0<\/strong>(50.00),\u00a0<strong>Savannah Barr\u00a0<\/strong>(49.88),\u00a0<strong>Christina Cianciolo\u00a0<\/strong>(51.08), and\u00a0<strong>Addie Sauickie\u00a0<\/strong>(51.42) touched in 3:22.38, at the same time as Triangle Area&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Lauren Medlin\u00a0<\/strong>(50.33),\u00a0<strong>Hailey Hicks\u00a0<\/strong>(50.40),\u00a0<strong>Mathea Myhrvold\u00a0<\/strong>(51.20), and a quick closing\u00a0<strong>Kayla Miller\u00a0<\/strong>(50.45). Spartanburg took third\u00a0in 3:23.17.<\/p>\n<h3>Men<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Brendan Burns\u00a0<\/strong>downed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/race-video-brendan-burns-breaks-tim-phillips-100-fly-ymca-national-mark\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">his own National Record<\/a> in the 100 fly. The senior from Upper Main Line touched in 46.10, under his own National record of 46.61 set last year. State College&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Matthew Brownst\u00a0<\/strong>was second (47.87) and Tri-County&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Tim Stollings\u00a0<\/strong>(48.11) took third.<\/p>\n<p>Burns&#8217; 20.89 fly split powered him and his teammates (<strong>Jack Christian<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Ben Doyle<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Matthew Hopkins<\/strong>) to the National title in the 200 medley relay in 1:30.63, just a tenth ahead of Somerset Hills&#8217; <strong>Jack Alexy<\/strong><strong>,\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Joe Castagno<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Lukas Scheidl<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Roo Fenton<\/strong> in 1:30.77. Scheidl,\u00a0<strong>Trent Russano<\/strong>, Fenton, and Alexy ended the night with a win in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:00.88. Burns, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ymca-national-record-holder-brendan-burns-verbally-commits-to-indiana\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">an Indiana commit<\/a>, posted a 43.60 leading off Upper Main Line&#8217;s third place relay (3:02.92). Triangle Area (3:02.60) was second.<\/p>\n<p>Somerset Valley&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Matt Fallon\u00a0<\/strong>was the only man under two minutes in the 200 breaststroke, and he was well under the mark. Fallon touched in 1:54.27. That time was less than a second shy of\u00a0<strong>Max McHugh<\/strong>&#8216;s National record. McHugh finished second in the event at NCAAs last week. Red Bank&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Johnny Nutt\u00a0<\/strong>was second (2:01.49) and BR Ryall&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>James Doromal\u00a0<\/strong>was third (2:02.15).<\/p>\n<p>Ridley Area&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sam Wesley\u00a0<\/strong>went out hard in the 200 backstroke and just held on. He touched in 1:45.04. Red Bank&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Paul Retterer\u00a0<\/strong>used an exceptionally strong second 100 to take second in 1:45.84.
