KNOXVILLE, Tennessee, October 11. TENNESSEE Aquatics will be looking to raise $10,000 for the University of Tennessee Cancer Institute later this month as part of an inspiration breaststroke clinic.<\/p>\n
On Oct. 26, Olympian Micah Lawrence and National Teamer Brad Craig will be holding a Breast for Breasts Breaststroke Clinic at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center. All proceeds will benefit the UT Cancer Institute, and the clinic is open to swimmers of any age and ability. <\/p>\n
Breast cancer research is particularly near and dear to the Tennessee Volunteer family. Head coach Matt Kredich’s wife Kim recently found out she has breast cancer. She already had a double mastectomy in August and is currently undergoing chemotherapy. <\/p>\n
But, Kim definitely isn’t a Debbie Downer about the situation. She’s been incredibly upbeat along the way. In a Knoxville News Sentinel feature, Kim’s been noted to already say “I’m kicking cancer’s butt.” And, her friends are calling her KimPossible.<\/p>\n
“We are all touched by cancer in some way,” Tennessee Aquatics head coach Marshall Goldman said. “We wanted to do something to help raise funds and at the same time provide the swimming community with the opportunity to train with the best. <\/p>\n
We wanted to do something as a community to let them know that we are rallying around [the Kredich] family and at the same time let others who are battling this life-changing diagnosis know that we support them in and out of the pool.”<\/p>\n
