MACOMB, Illinois, October 5. THE Saint Louis swim team broke three pool records at Western Illinois as both Billiken squads defeated the Leathernecks. The men’s team won 167-127 while the women won 219-72. The women rise to 4-1 and the men are 3-1 in dual meets. <\/p>\n
For the men, the meet started off on a high note, with the 200-yard medley relay team of Grant Alef, Stephen Hansen, Brendan Hulseman and Zack Billingsley finished with a time of 1:35.57, setting a pool record. The Billikens set another record late in the meet, when freshman Austin Nguyenphu touched the wall at 1:54.33 in the 200-yard IM. This time is also the third-fastest in SLU history.<\/p>\n
On the women’s side, Morgan Peterson set a pool record of her own in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:06.76. The women’s team won every swimming event except for the 100-yard backstroke.<\/p>\n
The Bills host the first home meet of the year on Oct. 18 against Eastern Illinois at Simon Rec Center. The meet is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
