TIBURON, California, October 5. A two-time winner of the $10,000 grand prize at the RCP Tiburon Mile, New Zealand’s Kane Radford took a moment to talk with SwimmingWorld.TV following his third-place finish this year. <\/p>\n

Radford explained that the RCP Tiburon Mile is one of the toughest open water swims in the world, because of the field that assembles and the ability for a much different game plan to occur each and every year. <\/p>\n

“This year, everyone picked their own line,” Radford said.” <\/p>\n

In most open water races, drafting is vital to the final success for any swimmer. This year, however, swimmers either took a direct line to try to win, or tried to find some advantage within the current.<\/p>\n

Radford also gave some advice to swimmers who want to get into the open water events.<\/p>\n

“I think you know just really get into it and find what you are comfortable with,” Radford said. “There are a lot of meets like this around the world that are good fun.”<\/p>\n

Radford also confirmed that he would be competing in the final FINA World Cup in Hong Kong later this year before focusing back on training for next year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
