The seventeen-year-old from Chelsea Piers-Aquatic Club blasted a 1:45.16 opening leg of the 800 Freestyle Relay, breaking the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.easternzoneswimming.org\/records\/rec_ezscs_sc.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Eastern Zone Speedo Championship Series Record<\/a> set in 2006 by <strong>Julia Smit<\/strong> (1:46.14).<\/p>\n<p>The swim was Douglass&#8217; first best time in the event since 2017, when she posted a 1:48.10 at these same Sectionals. Douglass split the race 24.16 &#8211; 26.99 &#8211; 27.28 &#8211; 26.73. She will not compete in the individual 200 Freestyle at these championships.<\/p>\n<p>She was joined by CP-AC teammates <strong>Maxine Parker<\/strong> (1:46.20), <strong>Sophia Moore<\/strong> (1:52.00) and <strong>Bridget Semenuk<\/strong> (1:49.04) to shatter the 800 Freestyle Relay Eastern Zone Record in 7:12.40. The previous mark was set by North Baltimore Aquatic Club in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>The Crimson Aquatics squad of<strong> Anna Feng<\/strong> (1:50.49), <strong>Sadie Runeman<\/strong> (1:53.71), <strong>Mia Galat<\/strong> (1:52.34) and <strong>Molly Hanlin<\/strong> (1:50.46) took runner-up honors, while the CP-AC &#8216;B&#8217; team of <strong>Elizabeth Boeckman<\/strong> (1:50.04), <strong>Emma Dantas<\/strong> (1:55.46), <strong>Lente Geelen<\/strong> (1:52.17) and <strong>Kelly Dolce<\/strong> (1:51.24) took third.<\/p>\n<p>In the men&#8217;s race, their CP-AC teammates earned a silver medal with effort from <strong>Tyler Sicignano<\/strong> (1:41.71), <strong>Connor Martin<\/strong> (1:42.41), <strong>Spencer Erickson<\/strong> (1:42.60) and<strong> Benjamin Feldman<\/strong> (1:40.75). They were edged out by <strong>Thomas Minar<\/strong> (1:42.65), <strong>Edward Platonov<\/strong> (1:43.09), <strong>Jack Crocamo<\/strong> (1:42.97) and <strong>Arsenio Bustos<\/strong> (1:38.29) of the Woodbridge Aquatic Club 7:47.47 to 7:47.00.<\/p>\n<p>Crimson Aquatics picked up another medal, this time from the team of <strong>John Zeiger<\/strong> (1:42.16), <strong>Tyler Knightly<\/strong> (1:42.94), <strong>Andrew Berzolla<\/strong> (1:43.22) and <strong>Brandon Musaku<\/strong> (1:42.07) in 6:50.39.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>In the individual events of the evening, thirteen-year-old <strong>Mary McKenna<\/strong> of Long Island Express dropped ten seconds in the 1,650 Freestyle to narrowly edge out <strong>Orla Egan<\/strong> of the Laguardia Twisters. Egan dropped over nineteen seconds on her swim, as the girls came in at 16:36.26 and 16:36.95, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>GRIT&#8217;s <strong>Tylor Mathieu<\/strong> also posted a lifetime best for third in 16:44.90. She was followed by PPSC&#8217;s <strong>Emily Ecker<\/strong> (16:50.15), Connecticut Aquatic Club&#8217;s <strong>Ella Dyjak<\/strong> (16:53.37), Kingfish&#8217;s <strong>Alexa Connors<\/strong> (16:58.89), Bulldogs&#8217; <strong>Morgan Bagnall<\/strong> (17:08.70) and WW&#8217;s <strong>Emily Appleton<\/strong> (17:09.38).<\/p>\n<p>In the men&#8217;s 1000 Freestyle, Ridgefield&#8217;s <strong>Connor Hunt<\/strong> (9:10.17) and New York Sharks&#8217; <strong>Matthew Styczen<\/strong> (9:10.82) battled it out for first and second. Both sixteen years old, Hunt dropped over six seconds to earn the gold whole Styczen took off four. Charter Oak Aquatic Club&#8217;s <strong>Adam Zapatka<\/strong> was also in the mix with his fourteen-second best time of 9:11.60.<\/p>\n<p>The New York Sharks also placed <strong>Joesph Hurle<\/strong> in the top eight with a time of 9:32.83. XCEL Aquatics did likewise with a 9:19.94 from <strong>Michael Krigeris<\/strong> and a 9:33.48 from <strong>Justin Tong<\/strong>.
