PARA DO BELEM, Brazil, March 17. BRAZIL's Marcelo Augusto Tomazini broke the South American record in the men's 200 meter breaststroke today, clocking 2:16.21. The swim was the highlight of competition on the final day of competition at the South American Long Course Championships in Para do Belem, Brzail.<\/p>\n

Two Championship records were set today as well.
\nIn the women's 50m free, Brazil's Flavia Renata Delaroli turned in a fine 25.95 second effort.<\/p>\n

The men's 100 meter free saw Edvaldo Valerio Silva Filho, perhaps Brazil's most accomplished black swimmer, clock 49.62. The tall, lanky 23 year-old — he's 6'4", 172 pounds — hails from Salvador in Bahia state.<\/p>\n

Brazil easily won the team title with 576 points. The team scores:<\/p>\n
