The latest stop in the Speedo Sectionals series has been a key opener in the long course season for participants, as well as a last-chance qualifier for many Spring championship meets in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Holding their lead from the second night, the Scottsdale Aquatic Club women sit in the lead with 429 points, ahead of Commonwealth&#8217;s 280 and Empire&#8217;s 225. Scottsdale also leads in the combined competition, with their 650 points leading Glenbrook&#8217;s 490 points and Empire&#8217;s 459.<\/p>\n<p>The Glenbrook men&#8217;s 416 points placed them in the lead, above of Empire at 234 points and Scottsdale at 221 points. Glenbrook&#8217;s healthy lead will be difficult to beat with only one day of competition left, while Scottsdale&#8217;s combined and women&#8217;s leads are similarly substantial, making them likely champions at these 2019 Spring Sectionals.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamunify.com\/team\/czmnlsc\/page\/events#\/team-events\/upcoming\/1009625\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Event Page<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Women&#8217;s 400 IM<\/h2>\n<p>Commonwealth&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Eliza Brown<\/strong> took the 400 IM Sectionals title in a 4:58.47, the only finisher under 5:00. Behind her was Rochester Swim Club&#8217;s <strong>Anna Ogren<\/strong> (5:02.19), and Scottsdale&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Blakely Schuricht<\/strong> (4:06.94).<\/p>\n<p>Also in the Championship Final were LMST&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Hayler Kimmel\u00a0<\/strong>(5:08.98), EAST&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kate Amar<\/strong> (5:09.65),\u00a0<strong>Laurel Brown\u00a0<\/strong>(5:14.29), GSC&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Maria Pritchett<\/strong> (5:16.84), and LFSC&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Mary Grace King<\/strong> (5:18.04).<\/p>\n<h2>Men&#8217;s 400 IM<\/h2>\n<p>Scottsdale&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Daniel Matheson<\/strong> won the men&#8217;s IM in a 4:37.93, far ahead of the rest of the pack, to open the men&#8217;s evening. Behind him was teammate\u00a0<strong>Marvin Schwickert<\/strong> at a 4:42.02, and CIA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Andrew Reiter<\/strong> with a 4:42.71.<\/p>\n<p>Also in the top eight were EAST&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Aidan Wilson<\/strong> (4:42.80), BNSC&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Camden Swigart<\/strong> (4:46.55),\u00a0GSC&#8217;s <strong>Timothy Hays<\/strong> (4:48.69), FOXJ&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Keegan Duffy<\/strong> (4:49.20), and EAST&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kevin Crane<\/strong> (4:50.56).<\/p>\n<h2>Women&#8217;s 200 Free<\/h2>\n<p>In her fourth straight freestyle win of the meet, Scottsdale&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ashley Strouse<\/strong> took the 200 Free with a 2:02.44, complementing her 100, 400, and 800 wins between Thursday and Friday. Also in the top three were Commonwealth&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Natalie Mannion<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>(2:03.04) and cNSAC&#8217;s <strong>Pyper Doo<\/strong> (2:07.20).<\/p>\n<p>Also in the A Final were t <strong>Katie Pardy<\/strong> (2:07.66), PPSC&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Emily Ecker<\/strong> (2:08.35), EISF&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Meghan Susil<\/strong> (2:08.74), BNSC&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Macy Rink<\/strong> (2:09.12), and ASC&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Bryanna Bellile<\/strong> (2:11.61).<\/p>\n<h2>Men&#8217;s 200 Free<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Cameron Kelley<\/strong> took a strong win in the 200 Free, with his 1:53.34 stopping the clock. Behind him was a close race for second, with STRM&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sean Dwyer<\/strong> taking silver in a 1:54.02, just ahead of GSC&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ryan Purdy<\/strong> (1:54.23).<\/p>\n<p>Behind them were GSC&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sami Moussally<\/strong> (1:56.01), FSC&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Christian Hedeen<\/strong> (1:56.95), GSC&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Brendan Forrest<\/strong> (1:58.02), RSC&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Grafton Parlette<\/strong> (1:58.38), and WEST&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Evan Bock<\/strong> (1:59.68).<\/p>\n<h2>Women&#8217;s 200 Breast<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Gillian Davey<\/strong> of CIA touched in at a 2:33.53, taking the win ahead of EAST&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ava Franks<\/strong> at a 2:37.86, and Scottsdale&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sadie Edwards<\/strong> at a 2:39.85.<\/p>\n<p>Fourth went to BAC&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Alexandra Anagnostopoulos\u00a0<\/strong>(2:43.20), followed by WEST&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sophie Macy<\/strong> (2:43.63), BLA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Molly Urkiel<\/strong> (2:44.76), CS&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Eliza Brown\u00a0<\/strong>(2:47.30), and SDVL&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Alyssa Eckstein<\/strong> (2:48.88).<\/p>\n<h2>Men&#8217;s 200 Breast<\/h2>\n<p>Glenbrook&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Max Iida<\/strong> pulled a commanding victory in the 200 Breast, finishing in a 2:17.96. Second went to SPS&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ben Wiegand<\/strong> (2:25.87), followed by EAST&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>John Kelly<\/strong>\u00a0(2:26.44).<\/p>\n<p>Rounding out the top eight were\u00a0<strong>Zach Affeldt\u00a0<\/strong>of STRM (2:30.21),\u00a0<strong>Braden Walters<\/strong> of SAC (2:31.45),\u00a0<strong>Jackson Hogue <\/strong>of GSC (2:32.40),\u00a0<strong>Joshue Nepomuceno\u00a0<\/strong>(2:34.47), and\u00a0<strong>Camden Swigart\u00a0<\/strong>of BNSC (2:35.60).<\/p>\n<h2>Women&#8217;s 100 Fly<\/h2>\n<p>The women&#8217;s night closed with Commonwealth&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Natalie Mannion<\/strong> taking the 100 Fly in a 1:02.59, followed by Rochester&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Anna Ogren<\/strong> in a 1:02.93 and Scottsdale&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sadie Edwards<\/strong> in a 1:03.42.<\/p>\n<p>Closing out the last women&#8217;s final were also\u00a0<strong>Genevieve Youngman<\/strong> of CS (1:03.79),\u00a0<strong>Claire Reinke\u00a0<\/strong>of HURR (1:04.78),\u00a0<strong>Gabriella Werner<\/strong> of SDVL (1:05.57),\u00a0<strong>Isabella Wylie<\/strong> of SAC (1:05.96), and\u00a0<strong>Emma Pritchett<\/strong> of GSC (1:06.84).<\/p>\n<h2>Men&#8217;s 100 Fly<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Garrett Clasen\u00a0<\/strong>took the last men&#8217;s win of the evening, winning a narrow race against Glenbrook&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jacob Shapiro<\/strong> in 56.77 and 56.97, respectfully. Taking third was EAST&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jonathan Ma<\/strong>, in a 57.49.<\/p>\n<p>Rounding out the Championship Final were also GSC&#8217;s<strong> Quinn Loughran\u00a0<\/strong>(57.55), ICE&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>James Pinter\u00a0<\/strong>(58.36), WEST&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Evan Bock\u00a0<\/strong>(58.37), SAC&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Parker Hughes<\/strong> (58.97), and GSC&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Max Iida<\/strong> (1:00.30).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Ryan Gibbons, Swimming World College Intern.
