Sarasota put forth an impressive effort in both men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s events, while South Florida made their presence known from Night One.<\/p>\n<h2>Women&#8217;s 200 Butterfly<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Mary Smutny<\/strong> from AK Sharks in South Florida edged out Sarasota&#8217;s <strong>Isabel Traba<\/strong> (2:15.63) with an impressive time of 2:15.05, as the two ran away from the field. Blue Dolphins swimmer <strong>Abigail Gibbons<\/strong> clocked in at third with a time of 2:18.55, followed by Sarasota&#8217;s <strong>Emma Weyant<\/strong> (2:19.47).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jennifer Secrest<\/strong> (2:21.09) swam in at fifth, followed by <strong>Michelle Morgan<\/strong> (2:21.97), <strong>Samantha Banos<\/strong> (2:23.21), and <strong>Megan Corcoran<\/strong> (2:24.03).<\/p>\n<h2>Men&#8217;s 200 Butterfly<\/h2>\n<p>Belen&#8217;s <strong>Bryan Alvarez<\/strong> put forth a tremendous effort in the last 100 to out-swim Sarasota&#8217;s <strong>Alexander Gusev<\/strong> (2:05.97) and post a time of 2:05.63. Unattached <strong>Gabriel Araya\u00a0<\/strong>swam in at third with a time of 2:06.08, followed by Jupiter Dragons&#8217; <strong>Caleb Petranchuk<\/strong> (2:06.70).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rafael Rodriguez<\/strong> (2:07.25) clocked in at fifth, followed by <strong>David Gapinkski<\/strong> (2:10.24), <strong>Juan Zapata<\/strong> (2:12.06), and <strong>Kevin Degrijze<\/strong> (2:12.44).<\/p>\n<h2>Women&#8217;s 100 Free<\/h2>\n<p>LCLA&#8217;s <strong>Marie Wattel<\/strong> completely left the pack when she cinched the win with a time of 55.21. Her teammate, <strong>Emily Crane<\/strong> out-touched Gator Swim Club swimmer <strong>Talia Bates<\/strong> (57.05) with a time of 57.02.<\/p>\n<p>Hydro4&#8217;s <strong>Micayla Cronk<\/strong> touched in at fourth with a time of 57.15, followed by <strong>Allyson Ponson<\/strong> (57.61), <strong>Emily Barclay<\/strong> (57.62), <strong>Mckenna Smith<\/strong> (57.74), <strong>Rebecca Moynihan<\/strong> (58.40).<\/p>\n<h2>Men&#8217;s 100 Free<\/h2>\n<p>It was a tight sprint to the finish for Araya (51.80) and Colorado Stars swimmer <strong>Kent Olsen-Stavrakas<\/strong> (51.93), with Sunrise Swimming stalwart <strong>Sidrell Williams\u00a0<\/strong>keeping with the pack, posting a time of 51.97.<\/p>\n<p>Performance Aquatics&#8217; <strong>Runar Borgen<\/strong> finished with a time of 52.01 to take fourth, followed by <strong>Sam Irvine<\/strong> (52.17), <strong>Steven Aimable<\/strong> (52.32), <strong>Thiago Sickert<\/strong> (52.72), and <strong>Blake Wilton<\/strong> (53.79).<\/p>\n<h2>Women&#8217;s 200 Breast<\/h2>\n<p>Sarasota&#8217;s 13-year-old <strong>Gracie Weyant<\/strong> stole the show with an impressive 2:38.22, with Gulliver Swim Club&#8217;s <strong>Olivia Hernandez\u00a0<\/strong>clocking in at 2:40.39. Saint Andrews&#8217; <strong>Shayna Fetes<\/strong> (2:42.64) out-touched <strong>Micaela Sierra<\/strong> (2:42.73) for third.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Anna Auld<\/strong> swam (2:43.01) in at fifth, followed by <strong>Miranda Renner<\/strong> (2:43.12), <strong>Molly Golding<\/strong> (2:44.64), and <strong>Emma Wortman<\/strong> (2:48.34).<\/p>\n<h2>Men&#8217;s 200 Breast<\/h2>\n<p>Berkeley&#8217;s <strong>Ryaan Hatoum<\/strong> (2:23.21) took the 200 breast with ease, posting a time over four seconds faster than South Florida&#8217;s <strong>Juan Pablo Pineda\u00a0<\/strong>(2:27.60) who swam in at second. East Coast&#8217;s <strong>Kevin Degrijze<\/strong>\u00a0touched in at third with a time of 2:28.03, ahead of <strong>Alexander Gusev<\/strong> (2:28.79), <strong>Samuel Quintero<\/strong> (2:28.96), <strong>Arnold Luk<\/strong> (2:29.17), and <strong>Wilson Ward<\/strong> (2:38.38).<\/p>\n<h2>Women&#8217;s 200 Back<\/h2>\n<p>Gator Swim Club&#8217;s <strong>Caitlin Brooks<\/strong> surged ahead for the win with a time of 2:13.77 to finish up an impressive individual schedule. LCLA&#8217;s <strong>Charlotte Evans\u00a0<\/strong>secured second with a time of 2:16.88 ahead of Sarasota&#8217;s <strong>Emma Weyant\u00a0<\/strong>(2:17.66).<\/p>\n<p>Gators&#8217; <strong>Talia Bates<\/strong> (2:20.71) took fourth ahead of <strong>Celina Marquez<\/strong> (2:20.73), <strong>Michaela Mattes<\/strong> (2:22.99), <strong>Madison Cummings<\/strong> (2:22.99), and <strong>Micayla Cronk\u00a0<\/strong>(2:26.96).<\/p>\n<h2>Men&#8217;s 200 Back<\/h2>\n<p>LCLA&#8217;s <strong>Dan Cross<\/strong> finished out the night with a decisive victory, posting a time of\u00a0 2:05.74 ahead of Barrington&#8217;s <strong>Griffin O&#8217;Leary\u00a0<\/strong>(2:09.09), who narrowly finished ahead of South Florida&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Lance Lesage<\/strong> (2:09.84).<\/p>\n<p>Sarasota&#8217;s <strong>Liam Custer<\/strong> rounded out his meet with a time of 2:11.21, ahead of <strong>Julio Perez\u00a0<\/strong>(2:12.00), <strong>Patrick Doyle<\/strong> (2:12.34), <strong>Jacob Hack<\/strong> (2:14.41), and <strong>Rafael Rodriguez<\/strong> (2:15.26).<\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Taylor Covington, Swimming World College Intern.
