Grothe led the entire race, finishing in 7:54.28. That is the fastest time in the world for 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Wilimovsky and Ipsen were neck and neck much of the race, with Ipsen holding onto a slight lead through 600 meters before Wilimovsky moved past him to end up second in 7:55.71. Ipsen ended up third in 7:58.23.
