Miami University (Ohio) even came within less than a second of the pool and meet record. While they just narrowly missed those records, they were able to secure their school record.<\/p>\n<p>The final three teams all finished within a second of each other, but Southern Illinois was victorious in taking the bronze. They came in third with a 1:29.96, while University of Evansville came in fourth with a 1:31.13, and Ball State finished fifth with a 1:31.87.<\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2>800 Freestyle Relay<\/h2>\n<p>The Redhawks (<strong>Diego Valentim<\/strong>, <strong>Gordon Wheeler<\/strong>, <strong>James Wray<\/strong>, <strong>Iago Moussalem<\/strong>) ran away with this event as well, managing to get another school record in 6:31.32. Missouri State came in a little over three seconds behind them with a 6:34.60, taking the silver for the second time.<\/p>\n<p>Rounding out the competition, Southern Illinois University came in third with a 6:37.87, University of Evansville finished in 6:40.78 to take fourth, and Ball State took fifth with a 6:47.17.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After Day 1, Miami University (Ohio) holds a strong lead, but there is still a lot more swimming to go. There should be strong competition to come in the next few days. Tomorrow the Mid-American Conference will compete in the 500 freestyle, 200 IM, 50 freestyle, and the 200 freestyle relay.
