Daniel Branon<\/strong> has joined an exlusive club of swimmers: the \u201cI-have-taken-down-a-Michael-Phelps<\/strong>-record\u201d club. Branon swims for North Baltimore Aquatic Club (NBAC)\u2014the same club as Phelps\u2014and the 10-year-old recently took down one of Phelps\u2019 1995 meet records.<\/p>\n

When considering Branon\u2019s early beginnings with the sport of swimming, it seemed he was destined to one day take down one of Phelps\u2019 records. Branon began learning the fundamentals of swimming at the young age of 3 at the Michael Phelps Swim School in Baltimore with Coach Solomon Sniad<\/strong>. While there, Phelps was training just a few lanes over, inspiring the young stars of tomorrow.<\/p>\n

While swimming in January at the 2019 Speedo Winter Invitational, hosted by Berkeley Aquatic Club, Branon took down Phelps\u2019 10-and-under 50 meter fly record, lowering the 32.39 standard to a stunning 31.42. He also bettered the 100 fly meet record with a 1:09.82.<\/p>\n

Swimming World<\/span><\/strong>: What is the best thing you do in swimming?
\nDaniel<\/span><\/strong>: I work as hard as I can in practices so that when I race in a meet, it\u2019s not very different than at practice.<\/p>\n
