Shebat&#8217;s\u00a045.19 was not only good enough for a victory, but also puts him in the mix for the NCAA meet coming later in March.<\/p>\n<p>Kansas Jayhawk <strong>Jenny Nusbaum<\/strong> ended up third in the 200 free tonight after taking the top seed from the morning&#8217;s prelims.<\/p>\n<p>The Jayhawks did have an upset tonight, with senior <strong>Vicky Vu<\/strong> winning the women&#8217;s 3-meter board over two Longhorns.<\/p>\n<p>As expected, both Longhorn 200 free relays won at the end of the night.<\/p>\n<p>Tonight&#8217;s events included:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Women\u2019s 100 Fly<\/li>\n<li>Men\u2019s 100 Fly<\/li>\n<li>Women\u2019s 400 IM<\/li>\n<li>Men\u2019s 400 IM<\/li>\n<li>Women\u2019s 200 Free<\/li>\n<li>Men\u2019s 200 Free<\/li>\n<li>Women\u2019s 100 Breast<\/li>\n<li>Men\u2019s 100 Breast<\/li>\n<li>Women\u2019s 100 Back<\/li>\n<li>Men\u2019s 100 Back<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Check below for an event-by-event recap of this tonight&#8217;s races.<\/p>\n<p>For full results, <a href=\"http:\/\/sidearmstats.com\/texas\/swim\/index.htm?DB_OEM_ID=10410\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">click here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Women\u2019s 100 Fly<\/h3>\n<p>Longhorn duo of <strong>Remedy Rule<\/strong> (52.33) and <strong>Lauren Case<\/strong> (52.69) swam away with the 1-2 punch for Texas while WVU&#8217;s <strong>Morgan Bullock<\/strong> touched third in a time of 53.09.<\/p>\n<p>Kansas duo of <strong>Kaitlyn Witt<\/strong> (54.52) and <strong>Haley Bishop<\/strong> (54.90) touched in seventh and eighth for the Jayhawks.<\/p>\n<p>Taking the B final was WVU pair <strong>Julia Nilton<\/strong> (55.14) and <strong>Ally Vannetta<\/strong> (55.44). Rounding out that final was TCU&#8217;s <strong>Chloe Miller<\/strong> (58.44).<\/p>\n<p>Texas senior <strong>Mimi Schneider<\/strong> touched first in the C final with her time of 54.20.<\/p>\n<h3>Men\u2019s 100 Fly<\/h3>\n<p><strong>David Dixon<\/strong> surprised all when he topped a Longhorn-filled A final by touching in a 46.73 to just edge-out Longhorn duo of\u00a0<strong>Andrew Koustik<\/strong> (46.79) and <strong>Jacob Huerta<\/strong> (46.85).<\/p>\n<p>Texas senior <strong>Max Holter<\/strong> won the B final in a time that would have won the entire event, had he swum a little faster in the morning session. Holter&#8217;s time ended up being 46.15, just a half-second faster than Dixon. Rounding out that B final was WVU&#8217;s <strong>Josh<\/strong> <strong>Madzy<\/strong> in 50.82.<\/p>\n<h3>Women\u2019s 400 IM<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Evie Pfeifer<\/strong> swam away with the victory tonight as she added just .02 from her prelim time to produce a 4:10.01 while her teammates <strong>Nora McCullagh<\/strong> (4:11.56) and <strong>Maxine<\/strong> <strong>Wolters<\/strong> (4:14.89).<\/p>\n<p>Taking eighth there was TCU&#8217;s <strong>Megan Morris<\/strong> with her 4:25.49.<\/p>\n<p>The B final saw <strong>Ellie Flanagan<\/strong> swim away with the win by producing a time of 4:22.24 while Iowa State&#8217;s <strong>Lucia Rizzo<\/strong> took second there with her 4:23.30.<\/p>\n<p>Taking 13th overall was Iowa State&#8217;s <strong>Jazlyn Horras<\/strong> in a time of 4:43.41.<\/p>\n<h3>Men\u2019s 400 IM<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Braden Vines<\/strong> swam a 3:42.55 to win the A final ahead of his Longhorn teammate <strong>JT Larson<\/strong> who touched second in a time of 3:47.70.<\/p>\n<p>TCU&#8217;s <strong>Dayne Odendaal<\/strong> touched third with his 3:51.14 while his teammate <strong>Rhorer<\/strong> <strong>Legendre<\/strong> (4:05.11) rounded out that A final.<\/p>\n<p>Due to some scratches, the B final showcased only two Texas swimmers, <strong>Colter Carman<\/strong> (3:46.55) and <strong>Mason Tenney<\/strong> (3:56.88), who went 1-2 in that heat.<\/p>\n<h3>Women\u2019s 200 Free<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Joanna Evans<\/strong> and <strong>Quinn Carrozza<\/strong> put together a 1-2 punch for the Lady Longhorns by posting times of 1:44.82 and 1:45.09, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Top seed from this morning&#8217;s heats, <strong>Jenny Nusbaum<\/strong>, put together a 1:46.70 for third overall, while her teammate <strong>Claire Campbell<\/strong> (1:48.57) touched in sixth for the Jayhawks.<\/p>\n<p>Iowa State had <strong>Anna Anderson<\/strong> touched fifth for the Cyclones in a time of 1:48.39.<\/p>\n<p>WVU had a B final win tonight with <strong>Giselle Gursoy<\/strong> touching first in a 1:48.46. Getting 16th there was her teammate<strong> Lauryn Kallay<\/strong> (1:52.16).<\/p>\n<p>Texas freshman <strong>Kendall Shield<\/strong> nabbed a C final victory for the Longhorns with her 1:49.61. TCU&#8217;s <strong>Katelyn Kenchel<\/strong> (1:53.09) rounded out that C final in 24th for the Horned Frogs.<\/p>\n<h3>Men\u2019s 200 Free<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Townley Haas<\/strong> got it done once again by sneaking by his teammate <strong>Drew Kibler<\/strong> (1:33.02) for the win in a time of 1:32.42.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Daniel Krueger<\/strong> touched third in a 1:34.73 while his teammates Jeff Newkirk (1:34.99), Alex Zettle (1:35.29) and Matthew Willenbe (1:36.48) took the next three spots in the A final.<\/p>\n<p>TCU had <strong>Joao Andrade<\/strong> (1:38.16) and <strong>Noah Cumby<\/strong> (1:38.38) take seventh and eighth for the Horned Frogs.<\/p>\n<p>Winning the B final was Texas stud\u00a0<strong>Parker Neri<\/strong> with his production of a 1:35.32.<\/p>\n<p>WVU&#8217;s <strong>Brandon Christian<\/strong> took 16th for the Mountaineers in a 1:41.88.<\/p>\n<h3>Women\u2019s 100 Breast<\/h3>\n<p>Longhorn go-to breaststroker Kennedy Lohman posted the only sub-1:00 time of the meet by just dipping under that barrier in a 59.99.<\/p>\n<p>Kansas stud <strong>Hayley Downey<\/strong> touched just behind in 1:00.51 while a duo of Longhorns comprised of <strong>Holly Jansen<\/strong> (1:00.66) and <strong>Olivia Anderson<\/strong> (1:00.75) touched behind in third and fourth, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Iowa State&#8217;s <strong>Lehr Thorson<\/strong> took eighth for the Cyclones with her 1:02.45.<\/p>\n<p>Fellow Cyclone <strong>Martha Haas<\/strong> took the A final win in a 1:02.76.<\/p>\n<p>Rounding out that B final was WVU Mountaineer <strong>Lauren Beckish<\/strong> in a 1:09.55.<\/p>\n<p>The lone swimmer in the C final, <strong>Lauren Mabie<\/strong>, lowered her prelim time of 1:03.74 to a 1:03.06 to earn 17th overall.<\/p>\n<h3>Men\u2019s 100 Breast<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Charlie Scheinfeld<\/strong> blasted a 51.96 to earn his A final victory and surely secure his big for the NCAA meet.<\/p>\n<p>After Scheinfeld came a heard of Mountaineers with <strong>Jake Armstrong<\/strong> (52.35) leading the charge. Behind Armstrong was <strong>Tristen Disibio<\/strong> (53.35, 3rd) and <strong>Fausto Huerta<\/strong> (53.79, 4th).<\/p>\n<p>Rounding out the A final was another Mountaineer; <strong>Ben Brooks<\/strong> who touched in 56.49.<\/p>\n<p>WVU continued to show their breaststroke depth with <strong>Matthew Marsh<\/strong> (55.07) winning the B final and <strong>Jack Portmann<\/strong> (55.60, 10th) and <strong>Jake Preaskorn<\/strong> (58.46, 11th).<\/p>\n<h3>Women\u2019s 100 Back<\/h3>\n<p>The Lady Longhorns produced a 1-2-3 sweep of the A final with <strong>Claire Adams<\/strong> (51.17), <strong>Julia Cook<\/strong> (51.84) and <strong>Grace Ariola<\/strong> (52.99). The marks Adams and Cook made should be enough to get them invited to the NCAA meet in just a few weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Kansas had a trio of swimmers in that A final with <strong>Elizabeth Amato<\/strong> (53.77) getting fourth and <strong>Manon Manning<\/strong> (53.96) touching sixth. Jayhawk freshman <strong>Dewi Blose<\/strong> touched eighth with her 55.35.<\/p>\n<h3>Men\u2019s 100 Back<\/h3>\n<p>Texas senior <strong>Ryan Harty<\/strong> broke the meet record on his way to winning the A final in a time of 45.19. His teammates <strong>John Shebat<\/strong> (45.44) and <strong>Austin Katz<\/strong> (46.02) touched second and third, respectively. All three of those marks should get invited to the NCAA meet.<\/p>\n<p>Tying for seventh in the A final was TCU&#8217;s <strong>Brendan Barry<\/strong> (49.17) and <strong>Merwane<\/strong> <strong>Elmerini<\/strong> (49.17).<\/p>\n<p>Texas freshman <strong>Jason Park<\/strong> won the B final in a 46.91 while his teammate Josh Artmann touched second there with 47.09.<\/p>\n<p>Notably, Texas senior <strong>Preston Varozza<\/strong> would have been second in the B final had he not been disqualified for breaking the 15m rule.<\/p>\n<h3>3-Meter Diving<\/h3>\n<p>Kansas senior <strong>Vicky Vu<\/strong> surprised all by defeating a herd of Longhorns in the A final. Vu scored a total of 380.00, which was enough to pass <strong>Alison Gibson<\/strong> (377.40) and <strong>Meghan O&#8217;Brien<\/strong> (367.0).<\/p>\n<p>Winning the consolation final was WVU senior <strong>Maddie Woods<\/strong>. Iowa State&#8217;s <strong>Sydney<\/strong> <strong>Ronald<\/strong> nabbed 10th for the Cyclones with her score of 288.90.<\/p>\n<p>Texas duo of <strong>Grayson Campbell<\/strong> (461.0) and <strong>Jordan Windle<\/strong> (454.65) created a 1-2 win for the Longhorns on the men&#8217;s 3-meter board.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 200 Free Relay<\/h3>\n<p>The Lady Longhorns A team including Grace Ariola (22.38), Julia Cook (21.90), Anelise Diener (22.29) and Claire Adams (21.89) were the only team to secure an NCAA &#8216;A&#8217; standard by swimming a 1:28.46. The Longhorns won the final ahead of Kansas who turned in a time of 1:31.38.<\/p>\n<p>WVU&#8217;s A squad turned in a time of 1:31.45 to earn third overall while TCU (1:31.54) and Iowa State (1:32.06) followed in fourth and fifth, respectively.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 200 Free Relay<\/h3>\n<p>Texas squad of <strong>Drew Kibler<\/strong> (19.47), <strong>John Shebat<\/strong> (19.15), <strong>Townley Haas<\/strong> (19.25) and<strong> Daniel Krueger<\/strong> (19.10) put together a time of 1:17.00 which cruised them to a victory over TCU.<\/p>\n<p>WVU&#8217;s A team would have placed second had it not been for a false start from junior <strong>Christopher O&#8217;Shea<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Horned Frogs ended up second overall with their production of a 1:20.69.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tonight the third finals session of our 2019 Big 12 Conference Championships gets underway with several fast swims scheduled to go off.
