Out in a blistering 26.11, King came home in 29.77 to finish in 55.88, breaking her own NCAA, American, and U.S. Open record of 56.25 from last year. Tennessee\u2019s <\/span><b>Molly Hannis <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is the closest on the all-time list to King, with a 56.64 from 2017. Those two are the only two in history to swim under the 57-second barrier.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a post-race interview, King said that she set the goal of going a :55 at Big Ten&#8217;s back in November because she wanted to do it &#8220;in her home pool.&#8221; Looking at her splits, the Hoosier improved by about 2-tenths on the front and back half of her swim, and with a little more rest heading into NCAA&#8217;s only time will tell how much more she can improve.
