The Week That Was #5 – Nathan Adrian Eyes Return To Pool, Remains Under Doctor Surveillance<\/b><\/h3>\n

2012 Olympic Champion <\/span>Nathan Adrian<\/b> announced via his social media accounts<\/span><\/a> that he was going to be \u201cunder close surveillance\u201d by doctors over the next several years as he eyes a return to the pool. Adrian was diagnosed with <\/span>testicular cancer<\/span><\/a> on January 25 and <\/span>underwent surgery<\/span><\/a> to remove some of his lymph nodes on January 29. Adrian quickly <\/span>made a return<\/span><\/a> to the weight room on February 4 and has been updating his progress on social media. Adrian has not indicated when he may be returning to competition. Adrian is listed on the roster for the <\/span>World Championships<\/span><\/a> team this summer as well as the <\/span>Pan American Games.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

The Week That Was #4 – Indonesia Puts In Bid For 2032 Olympic Games<\/b><\/h3>\n

Indonesia has <\/span>officially joined bidding<\/span><\/a> to host the 2032 Olympics. The country was host to the 2018 Asian Games, and if selected would be the first country in Southeast Asia to host the Olympic Games. Other countries planning on launching bids for 2032 include India and a joint bid from North and South Korea. The Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Palembang were the co-hosts of the most recent Asian Games, which were considered a success and received praise from the International Olympic Committee. The Week That Was #3 – USC Wins Barbara Kalbus Invite, Extends Win Streak To Thirty-Three<\/b><\/h3>\n

The nation\u2019s top women\u2019s water polo teams came together for the annual Barbara Kalbus Invitational, the most significant non-conference competition of the year. <\/span>Top-ranked USC won their third title in five years<\/span><\/a>, taking down #2 Stanford 10-8 in the finals at UC Irvine. That was also USC\u2019s fifth straight appearance in the championship final of the invitational, and extended their current winning streak to 33-straight. The Week That Was #2 – Carson Foster Sets National High School Record<\/b><\/h3>\n

High School junior <\/span>Carson Foster <\/b>dropped an incredible 1:32.99 in the 200 free this week at the 2019 Ohio Boys D1 State Championships, establishing a <\/span>new National High School record<\/span><\/a> in the event. That broke the old record of 1:33.30 set by <\/span>Drew Kibler<\/b>, who is currently a freshman at the University of Texas. Foster himself has <\/span>verbally committed to swim for the Longhorns<\/span><\/a>. A member of the Mason Manta Rays, Foster is also a National Junior Team member and has won multiple medals at the 2018 Junior Pan Pacs and 2017 World Junior Championships. The Week That Was #1 –<\/b> Lilly King Makes History With Sub-56 100 Breast<\/b><\/h3>\n

Many of the best Division I conference championships were underway this week, with the <\/span>SEC<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>ACC<\/span><\/a> women, and <\/span>Big Ten<\/span><\/a> women all starting their championship season. <\/span>Lilly King <\/b>was a major highlight of the week\u2019s competitions, <\/span>becoming the first woman under 56-seconds<\/span><\/a> in the 100 breast when she touched in 55.88. That set a new American, NCAA, and U.S. Open record in the event, breaking King\u2019s old 56.25 from last season. King also had the <\/span>fastest 50 breast split (25.36) in history<\/span><\/a> to open the meet. <\/span>Erika Brown <\/b>also had an NCAA record of her own<\/span><\/a> at SEC\u2019s, blasting a 21.15 to break <\/span>Simone Manuel\u2019s <\/b>21.17 from last year. Brown\u2019s time was just .03 off of <\/span>Abbey Weitzeil\u2019s <\/b>American and U.S. Open record. Indiana ended Michigan\u2019s three year reign at the top of the Big Ten, while the NC State women won their second ACC championship in three years. In the SEC, the Florida men won their first title under new head coach <\/span>Anthony Nesty<\/b>, while Texas A&M women won their fourth straight conference title.
