Rawstrom Natatorium.<\/p>\n<p>Newark Charter successfully defended their girls&#8217; team title with a total score of 284 ahead of Padua (229.5) and Tower Hill (214).\u00a0Salesianum earned their third-straight championship crown on the boys&#8217; side with 397 points ahead of\u00a0Charter School of Wilmington (273) and\u00a0Conrad Schools of Science (194).<\/p>\n<h1>Girls Meet<\/h1>\n<p>Click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/results\/2019-delaware-girls-state-championships\/high-school\/2019\/February\/23?rtn=%2Fresults%2Fhigh-school%3Fpage%3D1%26orderBy%3DResult.MeetStartDateTime%26sortDirection%3D1%26q%3D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HERE<\/a> for full results.<\/p>\n<h2>Top 5 Team Scores:<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Newark Charter &#8211; 284<\/li>\n<li>Padua &#8211; 229.5<\/li>\n<li>Tower Hill &#8211; 214<\/li>\n<li>Charter School of Wilmington &#8211; 171<\/li>\n<li>Appoquinimink &#8211; 139<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Newark Charter began their winning ways as the 4&#215;50 medley relay team of\u00a0<strong>Stephanie Dryden\u00a0<\/strong>(27.77),\u00a0<strong>Emma Menzer\u00a0<\/strong>(29.56),\u00a0<strong>Kate Menzer\u00a0<\/strong>(26.83) and\u00a0<strong>Megan Kelby\u00a0<\/strong>(25.78) won in 1:49.94.<\/p>\n<p>Shortly after, E. Menzer dove back in the water to win the 200 IM in 2:03.15 to hold off a charging\u00a0<strong>Ashley Chompre\u00a0<\/strong>(2:03.43) of Wilmington Friends. Chompre then flew to first in the 100 fly, touching the wall in 55.38. E. Menzer also won the 100 breast in 1:04.96.<\/p>\n<p>Dryden splashed-and-dashed her way to the wall in a quick 24.48 for the 50 free state title.\u00a0Ursuline&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Mackenzie Brandt\u00a0<\/strong>dominated the 500 free, winning with a final time of 4:57.64 as the only swimmer in the field under the five-minute mark.<\/p>\n<p>Tower Hill&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Lainey Mullins<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; who is only in eighth grade &#8211;\u00a0cruised to first in the 200 free, stopping the clock in 1:50.44 to win by over two seconds. She also found herself on top of the podium in the 100 free, racing to the wall in 52.29.<\/p>\n<p>Tower Hill&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sydney Aitken\u00a0<\/strong>(25.08),\u00a0<strong>Kayley Knackstedt\u00a0<\/strong>(25.47),\u00a0<strong>Sydney DeBaecke\u00a0<\/strong>(24.08) and Mullins (23.51) combined to win the 4&#215;50 free in 1:38.14. Not too long after, DeBaecke was back in the water to power home to a win in the 100 back with a time of 56.43.<\/p>\n<p>Newark&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Rachel Tims\u00a0<\/strong>dove to first on the 1-meter diving board, finishing with a final score of 340.75.\u00a0Tower Hill&#8217;s\u00a0Aitken (55.56), Knackstedt (54.62), DeBaecke (52.13) and Mullins (51.59) teamed up for the second time to win the 4&#215;100 free relay in 3:33.90 to conclude the girls&#8217; meet.<\/p>\n<h1>Boys Meet<\/h1>\n<p>Click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/results\/2019-delaware-boys-state-championships\/high-school\/2019\/February\/23?rtn=%2Fresults%2Fhigh-school%3Fpage%3D1%26orderBy%3DResult.MeetStartDateTime%26sortDirection%3D1%26q%3D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HERE<\/a> for full results.<\/p>\n<h2>Top 5 Team Scores:<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Salesianum &#8211; 397<\/li>\n<li>Charter School of Wilmington &#8211; 273<\/li>\n<li>Conrad Schools of Science &#8211; 194<\/li>\n<li>St. Andrews &#8211; 135<\/li>\n<li>Archmere Academy &#8211; 100<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Salesianum began their winning ways as the 4&#215;50 medley relay team of\u00a0<strong>Tom Janton\u00a0<\/strong>(25.79),\u00a0<strong>Alek Elder\u00a0<\/strong>(26.27),\u00a0<strong>Justin Fitzpatrick\u00a0<\/strong>(23.48) and\u00a0<strong>Cameron Marion\u00a0<\/strong>(21.75) opened up the meet in 1:37.29. Elder later went on to win the 100 back in 52.09.<\/p>\n<p>Salesianum&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Brian Hochman\u00a0<\/strong>cruised to first in the 200 free, stopping the clock in 1:41.70 to win by just over three seconds. He then went on to win the 100 free by a full second, sprinting to first in 47.31.\u00a0Appoquinimink&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kevin Lewke\u00a0<\/strong>powered home to a win in the 500 free, clocking in at 4:40.86 to hold off a charging\u00a0<strong>Evan Ciecko\u00a0<\/strong>(4:41.43) of Mount Pleasant.<\/p>\n<p>Conrad Schools of Science&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ryan Pirrung\u00a0<\/strong>was the first of only four swimmers in the field to break the two-minute marker in the 200 IM, doing so in a winning time of 1:51.04. Not too long after that, Pirrung was back in the water to earn his second gold in the 100 breast with a time of 57.20.<\/p>\n<p>Newark&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Zach Coffing\u00a0<\/strong>splashed-and-dashed his way to victory in the 50 free, racing to the wall in a quick 21.48. He also flew to the top of the podium in the 100 fly, getting his hands to the wall the fastest in 50.98.\u00a0Conrad Schools of Science&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jack Kidwell\u00a0<\/strong>dove to first on the 1-meter board, finishing with a final score of 466.65.<\/p>\n<p>Salesianum&#8217;s Marion (22.40),\u00a0<strong>Joey Dickson\u00a0<\/strong>(21.91), Fitzpatrick (22.47) and Hochman (21.62) combined to win the 4&#215;50 free relay in 1:28.40.
