T. Branin Natatorium in Canton, Ohio.<\/p>\n<p>A total of seven Ohio state records were broken at this meet:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sycamore High School &#8211; 4&#215;50 medley relay (1:28.48)<\/li>\n<li>Sycamore&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Carson Foster\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; 200 free (1:32.99) <em>**<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/carson-foster-blasts-132-99-national-high-school-record-in-200-free-at-ohio-state-championships\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National HS record<\/a>**<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Sycamore&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jake Foster\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; 200 IM (1:43.99)<\/li>\n<li>Mason&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Adam Chaney <\/strong>&#8211; 50 free (19.64)<\/li>\n<li>Mason&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Adam Chaney\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; 100 free (43.27)<\/li>\n<li>Sycamore&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Carson Foster\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; 100 back (46.28)<\/li>\n<li>Sycamore&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jake Foster\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; 100 breast (53.53)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It proved to be a fast and competitive meet. Despite Sycamore setting five state records, St. Xavier used their impressive depth to secure their 11th-straight team title with a final score of 310. Sycamore finished second with 240 points followed by St. Francis De Sales (159).<\/p>\n<p>Click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/results\/2019-ohio-state-championships-full-results\/high-school\/2019\/February\/21?rtn=%2Fresults%2Fhigh-school%3Fpage%3D1%26orderBy%3DResult.MeetStartDateTime%26sortDirection%3D1%26q%3D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HERE<\/a> for full results.<\/p>\n<h2>Top 5 Team Scores:<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>St. Xavier &#8211; 310<\/li>\n<li>Sycamore &#8211; 240<\/li>\n<li>St. Francis De Sales &#8211; 159<\/li>\n<li>Mason &#8211; 151<\/li>\n<li>North Canton Hoover &#8211; 144<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Sycamore&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Carson Foster\u00a0<\/strong>(21.44), <strong>Jake Foster\u00a0<\/strong>(23.86),\u00a0<strong>Ansel Froass\u00a0<\/strong>(22.27) and\u00a0<strong>Elliott Carl\u00a0<\/strong>(20.91) began the meet with a bang as they combined in 1:28.48 to take down St. Xavier&#8217;s state record of 1:29.66 set in 2017.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>St. Xavier took second in 1:28.94 while North Canton Hoover was third in 1:30.21.<\/p>\n<p>C. Foster stole the show in the 200 free, setting a new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/carson-foster-blasts-132-99-national-high-school-record-in-200-free-at-ohio-state-championships\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National High School record with a blazing-fast 1:32.99<\/a> to also crush his own state record of 1:33.38 set during prelims. He was well ahead of runner-up\u00a0<strong>Jay Johnson\u00a0<\/strong>(1:36.70) of Hudson and Walnut Hills&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Aaron Sequeira\u00a0<\/strong>was third in 1:37.57.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/junior-national-champion-jake-foster-gives-early-verbal-to-texas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Texas commit<\/a> J. Foster won the 200 IM by nearly five seconds in 1:43.99, the same exact time he swam during prelims to tie his own Ohio state record. The old record of 1:48.52 was set by\u00a0Waynesville\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Owen Conley\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/four-state-records-fall-at-ohio-dii-meet-gates-mills-hawken-girls-win-fifth-straight-hunting-valley-university-school-boys-repeat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">last night at the DII Championships<\/a>.\u00a0Froass gave Sycamore a 1-2 finish in the event by taking second in 1:48.27 as Westerville North&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Andrew Bernsdorf\u00a0<\/strong>took third in 1:49.29.<\/p>\n<p>Chaney<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>splashed-and-dashed his way to a win in the 50 free with a time of 19.79, only a tenth off his own state record of 19.69 he set during prelims as the only swimmer to crack the 20-second mark. Dover&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Hunter Armstrong\u00a0<\/strong>(20.14) and Dublin Jerome&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Max Scott\u00a0<\/strong>(20.42) finished second and third, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>St. Xavier&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jean-Pierre Khouzam<\/strong>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/virginia-gets-verbal-for-2020-from-dayton-raiders-jean-pierre-khouzam\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">who has given Virginia an early verbal<\/a>, flew to the top of the podium in the 100 fly, getting his hands to the wall first in 47.21 &#8211; just shy of\u00a0<strong>Austin Staab&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>state record of 47.10. Shaker Heights&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Chachi Gustafson\u00a0<\/strong>was 1.5 seconds behind in 48.71 for second and Twinsburg&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Colin Martin\u00a0<\/strong>raced to third in 48.75.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lyle Yost\u00a0<\/strong>of Shaker Heights dove to first on the 1-meter board for the third-straight year, posting a final score of 571.20 for the win. Powell Olentangy Liberty&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jack Matthews\u00a0<\/strong>placed second with 534.00 points and New Albany&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jordan Rzepka\u00a0<\/strong>took third with a total score of 505.45.<\/p>\n<p>Chaney showed his sprint talent by adding the 100 free title to his 50 free gold from earlier. His final time of 43.67 was four-tenths off his state record-setting time of 43.27 he set during prelims. Armstrong again grabbed silver in 44.27 and Johnson earned bronze in 44.43.<\/p>\n<p>The 500 free gold medal went to Liberty Township Lakota East&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jacob<\/strong> <strong>McDonald<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/tennessee-earns-2020-verbal-from-mason-manta-rays-jacob-mcdonald\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a future Tennessee Vol<\/a>, raced to the wall in 4:22.17. St. Xavier&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Grady Wheeler\u00a0<\/strong>swam to the runner-up spot in 4:25.94 and Grove City&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Spencer Tussing\u00a0<\/strong>raced to third in 4:32.25.<\/p>\n<p>St. Xavier&#8217;s <strong>JP Khouzam\u00a0<\/strong>(21.54),\u00a0<strong>Owen Taylor\u00a0<\/strong>(20.51),\u00a0<strong>Ian Van Gorp\u00a0<\/strong>(20.89) and Khouzam (19.75) combined to with the 4&#215;50 free relay in 1:22.69. Completing the top three podium finishers were North Canton Hoover (1:23.03) and Mason (1:23.18). Chaney&#8217;s 19.64 lead-off split lowered the state record yet again.<\/p>\n<p>C. Foster added another gold to his growing hardware collection by taking first in the 100 back. His final time of 46.62 was just off his Ohio state record-setting mark of 46.28 he set during prelims. Second place went to Sequeira in 47.81 and third belonged to Cleveland St. Ignatius&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Tyler Hong\u00a0<\/strong>in 48.75.<\/p>\n<p>The Foster brothers were on fire tonight, as J. Foster added another title in the 100 breast with a final time of 53.76. His time was just off the 53.53 he set during prelims for the state record; the old record was set by Bowling Green\u2019s\u00a0<strong>CJ Layne\u00a0<\/strong>(54.48) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/four-state-records-fall-at-ohio-dii-meet-gates-mills-hawken-girls-win-fifth-straight-hunting-valley-university-school-boys-repeat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">at the DII Championships<\/a>. St. Xavier&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Scott Sobolewski\u00a0<\/strong>(54.25) and Milford&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Tyler Babinec\u00a0<\/strong>(54.34) rounded out the top three.<\/p>\n<p>Sycamore&#8217;s Froass (46.06),\u00a0<strong>Noah Patterson\u00a0<\/strong>(46.76), J. Foster (44.06) and C. Foster (43.09) concluded the meet by winning the 4&#215;100 free relay in 2:59.97.
