It’s the final day of the CAA Championship meet, and Towson’s\u00a0Jack Saunderson\u00a0<\/strong>saved the best for last, capturing the meet’s first swimming NCAA A cut standard time. On the women’s side,\u00a0Alexa Kutch\u00a0<\/strong>goes down in CAA history as well, becoming the second ever to sweep the backstroke events three years in a row.<\/p>\n

Before the night of racing began, the CAA honored the senior swimmers as some competed for their last time ever tonight.<\/p>\n

The James Madison women would defend their CAA championship title with 726 points and William & Mary claimed the men’s title for the fifth year in a row at 925.5 points.<\/p>\n

Behind him was teammate\u00a0Chris Balbo<\/strong>\u00a0(W&M) in 15:26.43, and\u00a0Patrick Cobb\u00a0<\/strong>(Drexel) claims third in 15:37.60. Fourth was\u00a0Avery Gambill\u00a0<\/strong>(UNC-Wilmington),\u00a0Kevin Basch\u00a0<\/strong>(Delaware) fifth,\u00a0Aidan Snively\u00a0<\/strong>(UNC-Wilmington) sixth,\u00a0Bryce Ciecko\u00a0<\/strong>(Delaware) seventh, and\u00a0Evan Brophy\u00a0<\/strong>(Towson) will finish eighth just breaking the 16 minute mark.<\/p>\n

Kutch defends her title in a time of 1:55.43 just missing her own CAA record, but getting an NCAA B cut standard.\u00a0Tara Tiernan\u00a0<\/strong>(W&M) and\u00a0Bailey Smith\u00a0<\/strong>(Northeastern) went second and third, both breaking the two minute barrier in 1:59.53 and 1:59.87.\u00a0Sonora Baker\u00a0<\/strong>(W&M) takes fourth,\u00a0Alicia Diaz\u00a0<\/strong>(Drexel) fifth,\u00a0Ellie Henry\u00a0<\/strong>(W&M) sixth,\u00a0Haley Sutton\u00a0<\/strong>(Towson) seventh, and\u00a0Meghan Jones\u00a0<\/strong>(Towson) eighth.<\/p>\n

Jason\u00a0Arthur<\/strong>\u00a0(Drexel) will claim his third title with the 200 back in a time of 1:44.87, an NCAA B cut standard, coming just short of the CAA all-time record of 1:44.13.\u00a0Jake Kealy\u00a0<\/strong>(W&M) claims second with a time of 1:45.67 and\u00a0Lee Bradley\u00a0<\/strong>(W&M) will touch just before\u00a0Zach Bishop\u00a0<\/strong>(Towson) for third, in a time of 1:47.10.\u00a0Joey Rento\u00a0<\/strong>(W&M) takes fifth,\u00a0Brent Hoshall\u00a0<\/strong>(UNC-Wilmington) sixth,\u00a0Owen Robinson\u00a0<\/strong>(Towson) seventh, and\u00a0Jack\u00a0Galbraith\u00a0<\/strong>(W&M) eighth.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Clark also claims a NCAA B cut at 48.55.\u00a0Evan Arsenault\u00a0<\/strong>(UNC-Wilmington) also breaks the 50 second mark, touching third in 49.88.\u00a0Annema Schnoor\u00a0<\/strong>(Towson) takes fourth, with\u00a0Faith Pilcher\u00a0<\/strong>(UNC-Wilmington) fifth,\u00a0Jillian Breeger\u00a0<\/strong>(JMU) sixth,\u00a0Ryan Ulrich\u00a0<\/strong>(Towson) seventh, and\u00a0Sydney Kirsch\u00a0<\/strong>(JMU) eighth.<\/p>\n

Colin Wright\u00a0<\/strong>(W&M), after breaking the CAA all-time record in prelims, touches first breaking his own record and the Christianburg Aquatic Center pool record in the time of 42.63 an NCAA B cut standard.\u00a0Matthew Essing\u00a0<\/strong>(Towson) touches second in 43.96, just missing the NCAA B cut standard by .11.\u00a0Sean Cannon\u00a0<\/strong>(UNC-Wilmington) will claim third at 44.37,\u00a0Ian Thopmson\u00a0<\/strong>(W&M) fourth,\u00a0Jack Cosgrove\u00a0<\/strong>(UNC-Wilmington) fifth,\u00a0Eric Grimes\u00a0<\/strong>(W&M) sixth,\u00a0Kiran Richardson\u00a0<\/strong>(Drexel) seventh, and\u00a0Christopher Pfuhl\u00a0<\/strong>(W&M) who just made the A final by .01, eighth.<\/p>\n

Joe Short\u00a0<\/strong>(Drexel) takes fourth,\u00a0John Klein\u00a0<\/strong>(Drexel) fifth, Steven Thalblum\u00a0<\/strong>(W&M) sixth, Connor Forsythe\u00a0<\/strong>(UNC-Wilmington) seventh, and\u00a0Jack Doherty\u00a0<\/strong>(W&M) eighth.<\/p>\n

JMU scores big, taking the top three spots in the women’s 1-meter diving.\u00a0Lenora Byrum\u00a0<\/strong>(JMU) claims gold with 281.35 points and an NCAA A cut, Emily Gross\u00a0<\/strong>(JMU) silver with 268.30 points also an NCAA A cut, and\u00a0Samantha Ullman\u00a0<\/strong>(JMU) bronze with 262.30 points.\u00a0Emily Wilson\u00a0<\/strong>(Towson) takes fourth,\u00a0Faith Anderson\u00a0<\/strong>(JMU) fifth,\u00a0Brianna Urich\u00a0<\/strong>(UNC-Wilmington) sixth,\u00a0Victoria Zozzaro\u00a0<\/strong>(Towson) seventh, and\u00a0Rebecca<\/strong>\u00a0Demaree\u00a0<\/strong>(Drexel) eighth.<\/p>\n

After getting disqualified in last night’s relay, JMU comes back to win the 400 Free Relay in a time of 3:20.78, just short of the CAA all-time record. The winning relay consisted of\u00a0Jillian Breeger, Sydney Kirsch, Bonnie Zhang,<\/strong>\u00a0and Mackenzie Gring<\/strong>. In second was W&M’s\u00a0Missy Cundiff, Megan Bull, Maria Oceguera,<\/strong>\u00a0and Annie<\/strong> Miller\u00a0<\/strong>with a time of 3:23.40. Third was Northeaster, fourth UNC-Wilmington, Towson fifth, Drexel sixth, and Delaware seventh.<\/p>\n

Men’s 400 Free Relay<\/h2>\n

For the second year in a row, William & Mary’s men’s team takes all five relay titles. The relay of\u00a0Colin Wright, Ian Thompson, Christopher Pfuhl,<\/strong>\u00a0and Eric Grimes\u00a0<\/strong>finished in the new CAA all-time record time of 2:55.92. In second was UNC-Wilmington’s\u00a0Tom McGovern, Jack Cosgrove, Gianmichel D’Alessandro,<\/strong>\u00a0and Sean Cannon<\/strong>\u00a0in 2:58.72.Third was Towson, fourth Drexel, and fifth Delaware.<\/p>\n
