The Colonial Athletic Association Swimming & Diving Championship Meet is underway Feb 20. Day one began with prelims at 11 a.m. and finals at 4 p.m. including the 200 Medley Relay, 800 Free Relay, and Men\u2019s 1 Meter Diving. On the Women\u2019s side, James Madison look to defend their conference title, while William & Mary Men\u2019s team is competing for their fifth straight title.<\/p>\n

DAY 1 RESULTS<\/a><\/p>\n

Team Standings<\/strong><\/p>\n

Women\u2019s<\/strong><\/p>\n

At the conclusion of night one of the CAA meet, scores are close on the women\u2019s side with a three way tie for first between Drexel, Jame Madison, and William & Mary with 68 points. Towson is close behind with 64, and UNCW with 56, Northeaster at 54, and Delaware with 50 points.<\/p>\n

Men\u2019s<\/strong><\/p>\n

Drexel takes the lead in 109 points, Towson at 99, UNCW 91, William & Mary 80, and Delaware trails with 28 points.<\/p>\n

Women\u2019s 200 Medley Relay<\/strong><\/p>\n

Drexel\u2019s team of Alexa Kutch, Gabrielle Rudy, Hollie Hopf, <\/strong>and Alicia Diaz <\/strong>take the first event of the night, touching in at 1:40.39 just ahead of William & Mary\u2019s Anna Kenna, Ellie Henry, Katie Sell, <\/strong>and Annie Miller.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Men\u2019s 200 Medley Relay<\/strong><\/p>\n

William & Mary\u2019s Colin Demers, Devin McNulty, Jack Doherty, <\/strong>and Ian Thompson <\/strong>claim first with Townson\u2019s Owen Robinson, Ryan O\u2019Leary, Jack Saunderson, <\/strong>and Matthew Essing <\/strong>close behind. Both teams broke the CAA meet record, previously held at 1:27.40. Townson by only .01 but William & Mary\u2019s will set the new record at 1:26.71.<\/p>\n

Men\u2019s 1 Meter Diving<\/strong><\/p>\n

This morning\u2019s prelims set the top three men only 2 points apart from one another, with defending champion Anthony Musciano <\/strong>leading at 264.60 points. In finals, Musciano jumped to 287.60 points to take the Men\u2019s 1-Meter diving title, with Will Canny <\/strong>in second at 280.10 points, and Dillion Hall <\/strong>in third with 253.85 points.<\/p>\n

Women\u2019s 800 Free Relay<\/strong><\/p>\n

The James Madison team of Jillian Breeger, Jillian Santiago, Kristie Darmody <\/strong>and Bonnie Zhang <\/strong>came back in Zang\u2019s anchor leg to beat William & Mary\u2019s team of Megan Bull, Tara Tiernan, Morgan Smith, <\/strong>and Maria Oceguera. <\/strong>Despite being 3 seconds behind at the hallway mark of the relay, James Madison finished in a time of 7:14.78 with anchor Zang pulling a 1:44.97 split to win the race.<\/p>\n

William & Mary\u2019s team of Ben Skopic, Colin Wright, Carter Kale, <\/strong>and Eric Grimes<\/strong> take their ninth straight title in the relay with a time of 6:31.47 just missing the CAA record by exactly 1 second (6:30.47).
