One of those records blew past Olympian\u00a0<strong>David Plummer&#8217;s<\/strong>\u00a02004\u00a06A mark in the 100 back.<\/p>\n<p>Bartlesville won the girls&#8217; team title with 308 points, just ahead of runner-up Jenks&#8217; score of 286. Jenks used their impressive depth to secure the championship crown on the boys&#8217; side, finishing with 401 points ahead of Norman North (295.5).<\/p>\n<p>Click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/results\/2019-oklahoma-6a-state-championships\/high-school\/2019\/February\/16?rtn=%2Fresults%2Fhigh-school%3Fpage%3D1%26orderBy%3DResult.MeetStartDateTime%26sortDirection%3D1%26q%3D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HERE<\/a> for full results.<\/p>\n<h1><strong>Girls Meet<\/strong><\/h1>\n<h2><strong>Top 5 Scores:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Bartlesville &#8211; 308<\/li>\n<li>Jenks &#8211; 286<\/li>\n<li>Bixby &#8211; 188<\/li>\n<li>Edmond North &#8211; 182<\/li>\n<li>Union High School- 177.5<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Bartlesville earned gold medals in every event for the first half of the meet on their quest of team dominance. They defended their state title in the 4&#215;50 medley relay, which was composed of <strong>Sydney Perry<\/strong> (27.48), <strong>Aidan Howze<\/strong> (31.76), <strong>Erin Downey<\/strong> (26.11) and <strong>June Harris<\/strong> (23.30) who combined for a final time of 1:48.65.<\/p>\n<p>Harris jumped right back up on the blocks to win the 200 free with a time of 1:53.85 and later grabbed another state title in the 100 free (51.73).\u00a0Perry conquered the back-to-back double by winning both the 50 free (24.14) and 100 fly (57.24).\u00a0Downey continued for another gold in the 200 IM with a time of 2:07.96,\u00a0and later earned another win in the 100 breast by soaring into first with a 1:05.65.<\/p>\n<p>Bartlesville&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Hollis Gilbert\u00a0<\/strong>dropped five seconds from her prelims time to win the 500 free in 5:05.92.\u00a0<strong>Kayley Henderson<\/strong> of Bixby won the 100 back with a time of 57.73. Also breaking the one-minute-marker were Broken Arrow\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Annie Kramer<\/strong> (58.15) and Jenks&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Jenna Vann <\/strong>(59.87).<\/p>\n<p>Union\u2019s 4&#215;50 free relay team of <strong>Kendra Vonhartitzsch<\/strong> (26.23), <strong>Abby McMahon<\/strong> (26.32), <strong>Courtney Posey<\/strong> (25.03) and <strong>Kelly Vu<\/strong> (25.72) sprinted their way to first, touching the wall at 1:43.30 for the win.<\/p>\n<p>Bartlesville defended their state title and won the 4&#215;100 free relay to secure their overall championship crown as\u00a0Harris (52.93),\u00a0<strong>Jordyn Kahler\u00a0<\/strong>(57.41),\u00a0<strong>Hollis Gilbert\u00a0<\/strong>(54.56) and\u00a0Downey (54.34) combined in 3:39.24.<\/p>\n<h1><strong>Boys Meet<\/strong><\/h1>\n<h2><strong>Top 5 Scores:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Jenks &#8211; 401<\/li>\n<li>Norman North &#8211; 295.5<\/li>\n<li>Bartlesville &#8211; 257<\/li>\n<li>Union &#8211; 186<\/li>\n<li>Stillwater- 162.5<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Norman North defended their state title and scored a 6A record in the 4&#215;50 medley relay, which consisted of Hayes (21.36), <strong>Jonathan Tang<\/strong> (26.58), <strong>Daniel Wilson<\/strong> (22.01) and <strong>Nathan Tucker<\/strong> (21.66) posting a final time of 1:31.61.<\/p>\n<p>Jenks\u2019s <strong>Alex Yanchunas<\/strong> took first in the 200 free, cruising to the wall at 1:44.42.\u00a0<strong>Andrew Truong<\/strong> (21.78), <strong>Jazz Widney<\/strong> (21.30), <strong>Reed Gilman<\/strong> (22.74), and <strong>Austin Sung<\/strong> (22.11) combined in the 4&#215;50 free relay, giving Jenks another victory in 1:29.47.<\/p>\n<p>Norman&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Caleb Sullivan<\/strong>\u00a0took gold for the second-staright year in the 200 IM with a time of 1:53.90. He was followed closely behind by Tang, who finished at 1:54.60 for second.\u00a0Tang then went on to win the 100 free with a time of 45.74.<\/p>\n<p>Hayes stole the show this meet, first by setting a new record in the 50 free after sprinting past the 21-second marker for a final time of 20.09 to break <strong>Jake Pearce&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>old\u00a06A mark of 20.65. The sophomore\u00a0earned another gold medal in the 100 back with yet another record-breaking time of 47.28, taking down Plummer&#8217;s 6A record of 48.42 set back in 2004.<\/p>\n<p>It was a tight 100 breast battle, as Jenks&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Morne Wolmarans<\/strong> (58.56) and Bartlesville&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Will Englehart<\/strong> (58.57) were only .01 apart; Wolmarans ultimately got the state title.\u00a0Wilson won the 100 fly, getting his hands to the wall the fastest in 49.57.<\/p>\n<p>Norman North&#8217;s<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Wilson (45.61), Tang (45.59),\u00a0<strong>Nathan Tucker\u00a0<\/strong>(47.63) and Hayes (44.64) concluded the meet with a bang as the dominated the 4&#215;100 free relay in 3:03.47, posting the team&#8217;s fourth Oklahoma 6A record of the day.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 2019 Oklahoma 6A State Swimming Championships took place on Saturday, Feb. 16 at the Edmond Aquatic Center in Edmond, Okla.
