Sweet Home won the girls&#8217; team title with 69 points, while Newport won the boys&#8217; championship crown with a final score of 90.<\/p>\n<p>Click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/results\/2019-oregon-1-4a-state-championships\/high-school\/2019\/February\/16?rtn=%2Fresults%2Fhigh-school%3Fpage%3D1%26orderBy%3DResult.MeetStartDateTime%26sortDirection%3D1%26q%3D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a> for full results.<\/p>\n<h1>Girls Meet<\/h1>\n<h2>Top 5 Team Scores:<\/h2>\n<p>1. Sweet Home &#8211; 69<br \/>\n2. Catlin Gabel &#8211; 50<br \/>\n3. La Grande &#8211; 32<br \/>\n4. Marshfield &#8211; 26<br \/>\n4. Tillamook &#8211; 26<\/p>\n<p>Sweet Home\u2019s <strong>Jamie Seward <\/strong>(29.26), <strong>Malia Hewitt <\/strong>(30.58), <strong>Megan Hager <\/strong>(25.45) and <strong>Sarah Hewitt <\/strong>(25.80) began the meet with a four-second win in the 4&#215;50 medley relay, combining in 1:51.09. Their 4&#215;50 free relay team of <strong>Chloe Tyler <\/strong>(25.79), Seward (25.56), S. Hewitt (25.46) and Hager (23.57) also won in 1:40.38, just off the Class 1-4A record of 1:40.25.<\/p>\n<p>Hager also won the 100 free, posting a half-second victory in 52.33. Marshfield\u2019s <strong>Anna Hutchins <\/strong>led the first three swimmers in the field under the two-minute mark, stopping the clock in 1:53.88 for the win. Valley Catholic freshman <strong>Elena Gingras <\/strong>won the 500 free by two seconds in 5:04.49 for the first title of her career.<\/p>\n<p>Catlin Gabel\u2019s <strong>Eva Carlson <\/strong>dropped nearly three second from her prelims time to earn gold in the 200 IM with a final time of 2:07.51. She also won the 100 breast by nearly four full seconds, getting her hands to the wall in 1:04.00.<\/p>\n<p>Cook stole the show in the 50 free, splashing-and-dashing her way to a win in the 50 free in a swift 23.50. Her time crushed the previous Class 1-4A mark of 24.06 set by <strong>Stephanie North <\/strong>in 2008. Shortly after, she was back in the water to fly to a gold medal yet again. She won the 100 fly with a final time of 55.04 as one of only two swimmers under 60 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>Stadler, only a freshman, was one of two athletes under the minute-marker in the 100 back, winning the event in 56.64. That time broke Tillamook\u2019s <strong>Nina Zweifel\u2019s<\/strong> Class 1-4A record of 57.45 set last year. Zweifel took second in 57.88.<\/p>\n<p>Catlin Gable\u2019s <strong>Defne Alpay <\/strong>(57.80), Cook (50.86), <strong>Katherine Chang <\/strong>(58.35) and Carlson (52.06) concluded the meet as victors in the 4&#215;100 free relay with a final time of 3:39.07.<\/p>\n<h1>Boys Meet<\/h1>\n<h2>Top 5 Team Scores:<\/h2>\n<p>1. Newport &#8211; 90<br \/>\n2. Marshfield &#8211; 46<br \/>\n3. La Grande &#8211; 33<br \/>\n4. Salem Academy &#8211; 26<br \/>\n5. St. Mary&#8217;s &#8211; 21<\/p>\n<p>The boys\u2019 meet began as Newport\u2019s 4&#215;50 medley relay, consisting of <strong>Caden Shanks <\/strong>(25.65), <strong>Kai Daniels <\/strong>(29.73), <strong>Nick Topar <\/strong>(23.85) and <strong>Lucas Ellingson-Cosenza <\/strong>(22.58), won by three seconds in 1:41.81. Their 4&#215;50 free relay team of <strong>Cole Braxling <\/strong>(23.76), <strong>Brennan Wood <\/strong>(23.21), Daniels (22.87) and <strong>Luke Bachart <\/strong>(22.87) also won in 1:32.71.<\/p>\n<p>Nyssa\u2019s <strong>Nathan Esplin <\/strong>led the first four finishers under the 1:50-barrier, winning the event by just over three seconds in 1:43.79. He found himself on top of the podium again in the 100 fly, leading the charge with a final time of 51.62.<\/p>\n<p>Soon after helping his medley relay team to victory, Ellingson-Cosenza was back in the water to win the 200 IM in 1:57.91 as the only swimmer in the field to break two minutes. He then went on to win the 500 free by 10 seconds with a final time of 4:45.19.<\/p>\n<p>La Grande\u2019s <strong>Garren Dutto <\/strong>sprinted his way to the top of the podium in the 50 free, racing to the wall in 21.73 as the only swimmer to crack 22 seconds. He swept both sprint events at this meet, also winning the 100 free in a speedy 47.63.<\/p>\n<p>Valley Catholic\u2019s <strong>Luca Foord <\/strong>was the only swimmer to crack a minute in the 100 breast, doing so by touching the wall in 58.93. His prelims time of 58.72 was just shy of the Class 1-4A record of 58.61 set back in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>After leading off Newport\u2019s winning medley relay at the start of the day, Shanks won the individual 100 back by three seconds in a time of 52.82.
