The 2019 New Hampshire DII Swimming and Diving State Championships took place on Feb. 9 at the University of New Hampshire’s Swasey Pool in Durham, N.H.<\/p>\n

Deerfield’s\u00a0Lindsay Wagner\u00a0<\/strong>broke the New Hampshire girls’ state record in the 100 back while\u00a0St. Thomas Aquinas’\u00a0Max Reich\u00a0<\/strong>did the same in the boys’ 200 IM. Both the Hanover High School girls and boys were awarded the team championship title for their impressive performances.<\/p>\n

The meet began as Deerfield’s\u00a0Wagner (25.35),\u00a0Kyra Chen\u00a0<\/strong>(32.69),\u00a0Natalie Young\u00a0<\/strong>(27.05) and\u00a0Molly Mahar\u00a0<\/strong>(27.30) took the top spot in the 4×50 medley relay, combing for a final time of 1:52.39.<\/p>\n
Not too long after leading off the winning medley relay, Wagner was back in the pool to splash-and-dash her way to the 50 free state title with a quick 23.57. She also found herself on top of the podium in the 100 back, winning by six seconds in 54.58 to eclipse her own New Hampshire state record of 54.60 she set last year.<\/p>\n
Windham’s\u00a0Alexis Martino\u00a0<\/strong>took the top spot in the 200 IM, clocking in at a 2:08.05 to drop six seconds from her morning swim. She also led off the winning 4×50 free relay in 24.94, followed by teammates\u00a0Hannah Pickett\u00a0<\/strong>(27.05),\u00a0Carolyn Hoadley\u00a0<\/strong>(26.25) and\u00a0Emily Craven\u00a0<\/strong>(25.72) for a combined time of 1:43.96.<\/p>\n
St. Thomas Aquinas freshman\u00a0Megan Reich\u00a0<\/strong>led the charge in the 200 free, winning by over a full second in 1:51.25 while dropping four seconds from her prelims time. Her time was just off\u00a0Jessica Tucker-Mohl<\/strong>‘s\u00a0<\/strong>1995 record of 1:51.01.<\/p>\n
Reich’s second gold medal performance was in the 500 free where she stopped the clock in 4:59.39 as the only swimmer under five minutes.\u00a0G. Wenger later flew to the top spot in the 100 fly in 58.41 as Rademacher (58.89) and Martino (59.08) also snuck under the minute marker.<\/p>\n
M. Wenger sprinted home to a win in the 100 free with a final time of 53.42, followed closely by Chen’s 53.75. St. Thomas Aquinas’\u00a0Paige Spencer\u00a0<\/strong>got her hands to the wall first in the 100 breast in 1:05.58 to hold off a charging\u00a0Emma Hall\u00a0<\/strong>(1:05.72) of Hopkinton.<\/p>\n
Hanover’s Amelia Wallis\u00a0<\/strong>dove to first on the 1-meter board with a final score of 364.00.\u00a0Hanover secured their team title as the 4×100 free relay squad of G. Wenger,\u00a0Jocelyn Hazen<\/strong>,\u00a0Emma Dubar<\/strong> and M. Wenger concluded the girls’ meet in 3:40.30, five seconds ahead of the field.<\/p>\n

The boys’ meet commenced as Winnacunnet’s\u00a0Wolfgang Brandt\u00a0<\/strong>(27.65),\u00a0Duncan Collins\u00a0<\/strong>(28.80),\u00a0Evan Domingos\u00a0<\/strong>(24.96) and\u00a0Anthony Daniels\u00a0<\/strong>(24.30) joined together to win the opening 4×50 medley relay in 1:45.71, just ahead of Hanover’s 1:45.92.<\/p>\n
Milford’s\u00a0Andrew Bartolomucci\u00a0<\/strong>cruised to first in the 200 free, going nearly five seconds faster than in prelims with a final time of 1:46.83.\u00a0Miles Lim\u00a0<\/strong>of Souhegan also snuck under 1:50 in 1:49.39. The 1-meter board went to St. Thomas Aquinas’\u00a0Dillon O’Connor<\/strong> who posted a total score of 409.30 for the victory.<\/p>\n
Reich\u00a0<\/strong>put on a show in the 200 IM: he blasted a time of 1:53.37, winning the race by 11 seconds in record-setting fashion. His time eclipsed\u00a0Andrew Allen’s\u00a0<\/strong>previous 2017 mark of 1:53.38. The junior later went on to win another gold in the 100 fly with a time of 51.21.<\/p>\n
Goffstown’s Alexander Estano\u00a0<\/strong>sprinted his way to victory in the 50 free, stopping the clock in a speedy 22.59 to win by nearly a full second.\u00a0He swept both sprint events as he also earned the gold medal in the 100 free after posting a time of 50.14.<\/p>\n
St. Thomas Aquinas’\u00a0Mason Pomroy\u00a0<\/strong>was the sole swimmer to crack the five-minute mark in the 500 free, doing so in a gold-medal worthy time of 4:58.28 — 22 seconds ahead of the field. He also took gold in the 100 breast with a time of 1:00.13.\u00a0Hanover’s\u00a0Eric Hansen\u00a0<\/strong>led the top five swimmers in the race past 60 seconds in the 100 back, getting his hand to the fall the fastest in 55.64.<\/p>\n
Windham’s\u00a0Jeremy Bartley\u00a0<\/strong>(24.07),\u00a0Miles Swank\u00a0<\/strong>(24.49),\u00a0Jack Armstrong\u00a0<\/strong>(23.87) and\u00a0Christian Holley\u00a0<\/strong>(23.21) combined to win the 4×50 free relay in 1:35.64. The 4×100 free relay went to Winncaunnet’s Daniels (55.81), Brandt (55.44), Collins (52.81) and Domingos (51.86) in 3:35.92 to conclude the meet.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
