Dalton&#8217;s 4&#215;50 free relay also set a new Georgia state record.<\/p>\n<p>Johns Creek (476.5) dethroned defending 6A champions Dalton (399), while Brookwood repeated as the 7A team winner for the fourth-straight year with a final score of 359.<\/p>\n<p>Click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/results\/2019-georgia-6-7a-state-championships\/high-school\/2019\/February\/8?rtn=%2Fresults%2Fhigh-school%3Fpage%3D1%26orderBy%3DResult.MeetStartDateTime%26sortDirection%3D1%26q%3D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a> for full results.<\/p>\n<h1>6A Meet<\/h1>\n<h2>Top 5 Team Scores:<\/h2>\n<p>1. Johns Creek &#8211; 476.5<br \/>\n2. Dalton &#8211; 399<br \/>\n3. Alpharetta &#8211; 348<br \/>\n4. Pope &#8211; 224.5<br \/>\n5. Dunwoody &#8211; 219<\/p>\n<p>The meet began as Johns Creek&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Andrew Simmons\u00a0<\/strong>(23.80),\u00a0<strong>Samuel Song\u00a0<\/strong>(26.70),\u00a0<strong>Adrian Iannamico\u00a0<\/strong>(21.94) and\u00a0<strong>Ethan Davey\u00a0<\/strong>(20.65) combined to with the opening 4&#215;50 medley relay in 1:33.09.<\/p>\n<p>Dalton&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Henry Bethel\u00a0<\/strong>powered home to a win in the 200 IM, using strong splits to secure the state title in 1:50.25. Bethel later lead the entire A-final under the minute-mark in the 100 breast, getting his hands to the fall the fastest in 55.60.<\/p>\n<p>Cambridge&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Matthew Gaines\u00a0<\/strong>cruised to first in the 200 free, stopping the clock in 1:40.67 for the win. Dalton&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ross Valdez\u00a0<\/strong>posted a three-second victory in the 500 free, racing to the wall in 4:31.48. North Atlanta&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Drew Shedon\u00a0<\/strong>dove to first on the 1-meter board with a final score of 506.75.<\/p>\n<p>Dalton&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jonathan Shaheen\u00a0<\/strong>splashed and dashed his way to the gold medal in the 50 free, posting a time of 21.02 to win only one-tenth ahead of runner-up <strong>Grant Allison\u00a0<\/strong>(21.12) of Dunwoody. Allison then went on to win the 100 free in a swift 45.29 ahead of Davey (46.45).<\/p>\n<p>Northview&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Cam Auerbach\u00a0<\/strong>flew to the top of the podium in the 100 fly, touching the wall in 48.38 ahead of Iannamico (49.77) who also broke 50 seconds. Iannamico later took first in the 100 back in 48.99 as the only person under that 50-second mark.<\/p>\n<p>Dalton&#8217;s\u00a0Shaheen (20.90),\u00a0<strong>Jack Forthman\u00a0<\/strong>(21.20),\u00a0<strong>Roman Valdez\u00a0<\/strong>(21.20) and Bethel (20.46) put on a show in the 4&#215;50 free relay. The quartet combined for a final time of 1:23.76, taking down the previous Georgia state record of 1:23.98 set by Westminster in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Johns Creek secured the overall team title as the 4&#215;100 free relay squad of\u00a0<strong>Chase Kennedy\u00a0<\/strong>(47.23), Iannamico (45.23), Simmons (47.29) and Davey (45.59) won in 3:05.34.<\/p>\n<h1>7A Meet<\/h1>\n<h2>Top 5 Team Scores:<\/h2>\n<p>1. Brookwood &#8211; 359<br \/>\n2. Lambert &#8211; 266<br \/>\n3. Lakeside Dekalb &#8211; 255<br \/>\n4. Parkview &#8211; 247.5<br \/>\n5. North Gwinnett &#8211; 239<\/p>\n<p>Brookwood got the meet off to an exciting start as the 4&#215;50 medley relay squad of\u00a0<strong>Nathaniel\u00a0Stoffle\u00a0<\/strong>(23.89),\u00a0<strong>Grant Clark\u00a0<\/strong>(26.17),\u00a0<strong>Aidan\u00a0Stoffle\u00a0<\/strong>(21.09) and\u00a0<strong>Sam Mauldin\u00a0<\/strong>(21.31) won in 1:32.46, just shy of 1:32.30 for the Georgia state record.<\/p>\n<p>Not too long after helping his medley relay team to victory, A. Stoffle was back in the pool to claim and individual gold in the 100 free after placing first in 44.05. He also claimed the 100 back title, leading three swimmers under the 50-second mark in 47.62.<\/p>\n<p>Magahey had himself a meet, beginning his winning ways with a 200 free victory of 1:35.62. He was just off <strong>Michael Taylor&#8217;s<\/strong>\u00a0state record of 1:35.16. Then came the 500 free, where the junior <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/jake-magahey-takes-down-oldest-national-high-school-yards-record-in-500-free\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">broke the oldest National High School yards record in the books<\/a>. His etched his name in the national history books by taking down\u00a0<strong>Jeff Kostoff&#8217;s<\/strong> 1983 mark, and he also broke his own Georgia state record.<\/p>\n<p>Lassiter&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Zach Franklin\u00a0<\/strong>led the charge in the 200 IM, turning in a time of 1:48.83. Also sneaking under the 1:50 barrier was Lambert&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Daniel Gallagher<\/strong> in 1:49.28 for second.\u00a0<strong>Jack Aikins\u00a0<\/strong>of\u00a0West Forsyth sprinted home to a win in the 50 free with a swift 20.67 as the only athlete in the race under the 21-second mark.<\/p>\n<p>North Gwinnett&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Mikael Getahoun\u00a0<\/strong>was the only swimmer in the field to break the 50-second barrier in the 100 fly, doing so in a winning time of 49.89. Collins Hill&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Peter Smithson\u00a0<\/strong>dove to first on the 1-meter, posting a final score of 762.35 for the win.<\/p>\n<p>Norcross&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Ethan Howe\u00a0<\/strong>(21.74),\u00a0<strong>Jacob Budnitz\u00a0<\/strong>(21.73),\u00a0<strong>Carter Januzelli\u00a0<\/strong>(21.30) and\u00a0<strong>Arion Solomon\u00a0<\/strong>(20.51) combined to earn the 4&#215;50 free relay title in 1:25.28, just ahead of Brookwood&#8217;s 1:25.46 for second. Budnitz also won the 100 breast in 56.37.<\/p>\n<p>Brookwood secured their overall team title as the 4&#215;100 free relay squad of\u00a0<strong>Dylan Scott\u00a0<\/strong>(45.64), Mauldin (47.27),\u00a0<strong>Roman Gibbs\u00a0<\/strong>(48.43) and A.
