The Southeastern Conference named Florida’s\u00a0Trey Freeman\u00a0<\/strong>and Kentucky’s\u00a0Geena Freriks\u00a0<\/strong>as swimmers of the week as we are two weeks away from the SEC Championships from Athens, Georgia. Florida’s\u00a0Kacper Stokowski\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Vanessa Pearl\u00a0<\/strong>were named freshmen of the week by the league office and Arkansas’\u00a0Brooke Schultz\u00a0<\/strong>and Kentucky’s\u00a0Seb Masterson\u00a0<\/strong>were named divers of the week.<\/p>\n

Freeman collected his third weekly honor with the SEC Swimmer of the Week. Stokowski earned his second SEC Freshman of the Week accolade on the season. Pearl earned SEC Freshman of the Week for the sixth time in 12 weeks as she received the SEC freshman weekly honor.<\/p>\n

Trey Freeman<\/strong>, Florida<\/p>\n

Freeman notched the fastest time in the NCAA for the last week with his personal-best swim of 8:59.42 in the 1,000 Free. His mark of 4:21.54 in the 500 Free was the third-best time in the NCAA and fastest in the SEC. Freeman swept the two distance events and provided valuable points to the team score.<\/p>\n

Geena Freriks<\/strong>, Kentucky<\/p>\n

Kentucky\u2019s Geena Freriks, a senior from Norwalk, Ohio, recorded the fastest time in the nation this season in the 1000 free (9:30.78) to help lead UK to a 157-100 win at Cincinnati. Her time in the 1000 free broke a 20-year school record<\/a> and is now 19th all-time best in the world. Freriks also earned her first win in the 50 free this season (23.22).<\/p>\n

Men\u2019s Diver of the Week:<\/h3>\n

Seb Masterton<\/strong>, Kentucky<\/p>\n

Kentucky\u2019s Seb Masterton, a senior from Reading, England, placed first on the 1-meter springboard with a season-high score of 354.38 in UK\u2019s win at Cincinnati. Masterton\u2019s score was the eighth best score in the event in school history.<\/p>\n

Brooke Schultz<\/strong>, Arkansas<\/p>\n

Arkansas\u2019 Brooke Schultz, a sophomore from Fayetteville, Ark., took first place in the 1-meter springboard with a final score of 353.55 in the 172-128 win over Kansas. Schultz was runner-up in the 3-meter springboard with a final score of 398.25.<\/p>\n

Kacper Stokowski<\/strong>, Florida<\/p>\n

Stokowski\u2019s time in the 100 Back of 46.40 was the second-best swim in the NCAA over the last week. His mark in the 100 Fly of 47.93 was the fastest time by a freshman in the SEC and the 11th fastest in the NCAA overall for the week. He led off the 200 MR with a 21.81 and led to the relay posting the fastest swim in the NCAA with a combine swim of 1:26.41. His third-leg time of 43.90 in the 400 FR helped the relay team post the fourth-best swim in the NCAA; it was swam as an exhibition.<\/p>\n

Vanessa Pearl<\/strong>, Florida<\/p>\n

Florida\u2019s Vanessa Pearl, a freshman from McKinney, Texas, tallied two individual wins and was a part of a winning relay in Florida\u2019s 173-127 win over No. 13 Tennessee. Pearl posted NCAA B-cut times in the 100 breaststroke (59.94) and 200 breaststroke (2:11.62). She swam the second leg of the first-place 200 medley relay (1:37.52\/27.37), and took second in the 200 IM (2:00.19).<\/p>\n
