NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>Waxhaw, N.C. native\u00a0Boyd Poelke<\/strong> has an announced his in-state verbal commitment to the University of North Carolina and will join the Tar Heels as a member of the class of 2024.<\/p>\n

Poelke does his club swimming with SwimMAC Carolina and owns five Winter Juniors standards with the U.S. Open cut in the 100 fly. He recorded a pair of lifetime bests at Juniors East last month where he finished fourth in the 100 fly. He finaled in the 100m fly at Junior Nationals this past summer and took third in the 200 fly at Greensboro Speedo Sectionals last March.<\/p>\n

Also competing for Marvin Ridge High School, Poelke is a four-time North Carolina 3A State Championship finalist. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American\u00a0won the 50 free and was the 100 fly runner-up during his sophomore season after placing second and third, respectively, in those events as a freshman.<\/p>\n

Regarding his commitment, he said:<\/p>\n

“I am ecstatic to announce my verbal commitment to continue my swimming and academic career at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill! A huge thank you to all my coaches, friends, and family for all their support through this incredible journey. GO HEELS!!”<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
