Swimming World Presents: Brooke Schultz – All in the Family<\/h2>\n

It was a moment that didn’t become real until they embraced.\u00a0 Arkansas freshman diver Brooke Schultz<\/strong> had just won the NCAA Championship in 3-meter diving and stood, half in shock, on the podium, and accepted the championship trophy from her coach.\u00a0 But it wasn’t just her coach-it was her father, Dale Schultz<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was kind of crazy,\u201d recalls Brooke, now a sophomore at the University of Arkansas and three-time senior national champion, as well as a gold medalist at the 2017 Junior Pan Ams and as a silver medalist at the 2017 World University Games, \u201cIt was really cool to get the award from my dad. Everybody on our team was gathered by the podium. The fact that everybody could be there was really cool, knowing the hard work had paid off.”<\/p>\n

Dale was a proud coach, but as a dad, had a difficult time keeping his composure with his daughter\u2019s monumental accomplishment. \u201cI was crying like a baby,\u201d he admitted. \u201cIt was very emotional for me because of everything we went through\u2014from being a little girl to that point. It was a big deal, and it continues to be a big deal.\u201d<\/p>\n
